Yamaha KX - 580 Cassette Deck. Dolby B, C and S, plus HX pro. Auto Tape Bias. Award Winning What Hi Fi deck of the year for 3 years running. A truly remarkable and highly regarded deck from 1993 that records and plays at very high quality. An easy to use cassette deck with intuitive controls and finished to a very high standard with a full metal chassis and fascia. Probably my favourite cassette deck in this price category. These decks have features found on much higher priced decks. The auto bias facility enables you to easily calibrate this deck to any particular tape you’re using to get a brilliant reproduction of the source material and performs this task much like a 3 head cassette deck. Additionally this deck has a manual bias control for further adjustment however I find that I have never had to use this as the auto calibration does a fine job. Furthermore, on playback a trim dial is available to increase the high frequency of the playback if needed. This range of cassette decks was the last in the range for Yamaha. Designed and manufactured towards the end of the cassette era and when cassette deck technology had reach its peak. All manufacturers, including Yamaha invested heavily in development during this period, in an effort to compete with CD player production. Decks from this era really do sound outstanding. There isn’t a single cassette deck being manufactured today that can come close to decks made during this period. All the decks I have for sale are fully re-conditioned back to as close as possible to manufacturer specifications and I’m not just talking about cleaning the play head and capstan. Fully serviced and reconditioned including new belt and new pinch roller. Mechanism stripped, cleaned and re-lubricated with Molykote EM30L. Heads and capstan fully cleaned. Azimuth and speed checked and adjusted. Output, eq and record levels calibrated. Heads demagnetised. Works perfectly and in excellent almost pristine condition with only some very minor marks to the top of the case from other equipment. This deck has had very little use with very low hours. Please inspect the photos carefully for details. Unit, power lead, user manual and service record only. Carefully packed and sent ParcelForce 48 with tracking.

Only selling as I’m going to Dac and CD Transport, so this is too good not to be used. Very good condition a few little paint chips to front, please see photos, I have not trued to hide. I have put a IEC female plug on so you can use better power cords, I’m sorry it will not come with a cord, but I’m sure if you know how good these players are you will want to use a good power cord of your choosing.
