Make your E-Series sound great again The hole size is identical to the original woofer cab housing (as is the ring) In other words, no modification to your cabs, just screw straight in (2 minutes is all they take) Fitting these is the best move you could make!! Anyone who rated their E Series needs this upgrade! Info: 10” BASS UNITS: If you are replacing these it will most likely be due to glue failure issues in the originals which was a very common issue due to a reaction with oxidisation from the cast aluminium speaker baskets, the glue becomes brittle also and can work Its way into the VC rendering the unit useless. Thanks to modern computer design and assembly we no longer have these issues. These speakers have after much research been chosen as the perfect replacements for the E-Series ones or an excellent choice if you are building a kit, Please do not worry about the reverse appearance of the contact adhesive used as this is just superficial in the fact it’s merely to centralise the ring to the main unit and once screwed down it will become solid and will not be seen once fitted. If you are replacing E-50,70 or 90 BASS units then simply follow the steps below, it only takes a few minutes! 1. Rest your cabs on their backs so the speakers face the ceiling. 2. Unscrew the 8 black self tapping phillips screws that hold the originals in 3. Remove the old units but carefully as you will need to pull off the 2 spade connectors (usually red and black) 4. Now take the new DSR replacement unit and simply re connect the wires (RED TO + and BLACK TO - 5. Put the 8 screws back in but don’t tighten right up until all are in then evenly tighten them evenly to their maximum which will then allow the gap between ring and cab to close up (don’t worry if after you have tightened there is a small gap this is still normal) once all the screws are done up you are ready to go You should notice an improvement on the bass response on all models and improved definition at high volume levels, these will also handle more power too. MIDRANGE UNITS: The procedure to change these is the same as above except the old units will need the 2 feed wires to be cut to remove as these are factory soldered in place for best results. Once you have removed the old mids you will find there doesn’t seem to be much cable however there is actually excess cable inside the speaker cab so just carefully pull on the cables and you will find the excess pulls through into the tubes allowing working room to solder. Again just fit the New mids and tighten the screws once the wires are re attached. Midrange definition should be superb now and crystal clear clarity heard. Bullet tweeters: If replacing the originals in order for these to fit in the cabs you will need to cut the square offset tweeter hole out by another 4mm to all four edges BUT be careful not to over cut as any over cutting may be seen when it is fitted as the ring may not cover this! The hole enlarging is to allow the huge magnet to pass through. These tweeters are not only high quality but are also 101db so very efficient and considerably brighter, ideal if you like clear tops or like me your ears are fading due to age! Its the HF that we loose in this case first. A much tougher bonding glue is used on the assembly of these units as they are not clamped. Purchased for a photo shoot / display. They have beentakne in and out of the box a few times excellent condition. Speaker legends dont get much bigger than the Wharfedale Diamond 9.0. The original small hi-fi speaker Its hard to believe that the original Wharfedale Diamond is now past its thirtieth birthday. All those decades ago, it was the Diamond speaker that proved, for the first time, that excellent quality sound could be achieved from a small, budget speaker. Since then there have been dozens of imitators, but the Diamonds remain amongst the best available. Solid construction The cabinet isnt just compact, its also very solid. This combination gives the Diamonds an extremely accurate sound quality as the cabinet doesnt flex or vibrate. Equally impressive are the drive units. A soft dome tweeter gives the clarity and smoothness of sound youd expect from a more expensive speaker, while the woofer cone uses a carbon fibre type weave to offer extremely taut and responsive bass. Surprisingly powerful With a front port, these bass reflex speakers are punchier than you might expect and in no way could they ever be described as tinny. Over all, they may be small but the sound is grown-up, with excellent staging, realism and surprisingly powerful. 2 x E-90 badges which were purchased from Rank group (Bradford) in early 80’s I purchased bulk E-series spares prior to the factory going and just discovered these after all those years! I seem to remember they were with the later offered kit builds they produced 1982-85 There is self adhesive stickers to the rears and they are truly mint and mirror like, discovered in a tin in a box of x overs found in my loft!
