Some pieces I sold on a different site I prefer for this type of gear. I have had much interest in this item regarding shipping. So, if I am to ship it, it will come with certain conditions, so please read before clicking anything. First, it will come in two boxes. Yes, I have the original box. But, the platter is just too heavy. I can wrap the platter well, and place it in the original box. There is no way I can repack this and get it to you. I would prefer to have professional UPS packaging of the table. I got a quote. $85. Yes, it is too much. If you want it in one piece, and insurable, this is it. Sorry, but it is what it is. So, recap. Ill pack the platter. No charge. You will be paying to ship it in the original box, with the arm. And the turntable will be packed by UPS for $85. This would be at your cost. Then, you would pay for the shipping of the turntable as well. And both boxes would then be insured for the $999 cap per box. Thats as much as UPS will cover through ebay. Two boxes, two thousand dollars insurance. If you want to insure it for more, that would be up to you to arrange. I accept no responsibility on this sale. And, you would need to file a claim for any insurance, if damaged or lost. Not me. This is why I want UPS to pack the table. Then, there is a shot if a claim is made if it gets lost, stolen or damaged, as they packed it. I can get the platter to you fine, but insured also just in case. Total cost for shipping would be $265. I apologize but it is what it is. I am old. I do not really even want to ship it, but too many people have been asking about shipping it. The package is worth $3500-$5,000. This is worth noting, as well as the rarity and high value placed on the platter by audiophiles. You assume all risk. I did not want anyone or anything around it. They unlocked the door for me at 8:15. It took the UPS rep a very very long time to pack this, as expected. The cost was more than quoted. It was $125. I was able to drop it down 15% using my AAA card, to $107. I do not mind absorbing this additional cost, even though it was far above what I was originally quoted by UPS. My only and sole concern it getting this to you, in two boxes, intact, safe, and just like it left here. I have posted the receipt from UPS today for the $107 I paid, just to reassure the buyer. This is a VPI JMW Memorial alignment jig. This came from a high end estate with a large quantity of turntables, all of which had already been liquidated by the time this jig turned up in a cabinet with other audio accessories, therefore I cant tell you specifically if this is for use with the JMW-9, JMW-10 or JMW-12 tonearms so please review the dimensions in the photo to determine if this is right for you. Im almost certain that the tonearm was on a model called the Classic, if that helps any. I measured from the white dot in the center of the grid which is where the stylus will rest, to the V groove of the fork which will be the base of the pivot point where the tonearm will be placed atop and it measured 10.15. The answer seems like it should be obvious to me but I dont want to make any incorrect claims. At any rate, its straight and true and in excellent preowned condition from a non-smoking environment and itll go home with the highest bidder so dont miss it! I listed it previously incorrectly, so I opened up the box to take appropriate pictures. I also contacted Jim at VPI, and here is what he told me. Its definitely an Aries 1 model, circa approximately 1994-1995. The arm is indeed a 10-inch (you only measure the armtube) JMW metal unipivot arm. A very solid, substantial table in its day, and lots of them still running from ~30 years ago. And, I received this from a fellow trader kind enough to share his knowledge. One thing VPI didnt tell you about your particular Aries 1 is that in place of the stock platter that came with the table, yours has the platter from the VPI TNT 5.The Aries had a real good platter: 1.25; thick, comprised of a 7/8 thick bottom section made of aluminum (onto which was bonded a thin sheet of lead, covered in cork), with a 3/8 thick top layer of Delrin. The same platter came on the TNT 3 and 4.The TNT 5 has a great one: 1.5; thick, the bottom section 5/8 thick stainless steel (no lead sheet), with a 7/8 thick top Delrin layer. Thats the platter you have, and its the one most VPI aficionados consider the best platter VPI has ever made. Congratulations, it (and the Aries table) is a beauty! There is full inspection available to the buyer, but no returns for any reason, once it meets with your approval. Buyer expected to pay local sales tax as well, so please come prepared, and do not say that this is all you brought. Must be picked up with 3 days. Thanks in advance. Enjoy the music.
