The “baffle-less” three way speaker is not a speaker that grabs your attention once you power it up. You need to sit in your sweet spot and slowly let its magic work into you. After a song or two or three, you will begin to sense its wide and deep soundstage. Vocals and instruments were very accurate and clear with lots of resolution. Its low frequency is rated to go down to 29Hz but you don’t get a sense of it like how other speakers do with bone shaking impact. The speakers innocuously produce the deep bass in the backdrop where after you appreciate how it produces the mids and highs you will then start hearing the low notes in the “picturesque” soundstage. Controls on the back of each speaker allows for finer tuning on the mids and highs to suit your room and bi-wiring is mandatory (or a simple spade to spade jumper will work too). Bought these Sig ll Anniversary Editionabout three years ago from the Vandersteen dealer when the Sig 3s came out.I also have the Acoustic Zen Satori shotgun bi-wire speaker cable for these if you are interested. The four spades, (for each speaker end), have been filed down to fit in the slots on the Vandersteen speaker screw type binders. I believe the shot gun cables, as highly recommended by Vandersteen, are heavy and GREAT sounding Acoustic Zen cables were about $1700.00. Let me know if you would like to have these as well to go with the speakers. I will make you a great deal! Note there is only one cable of the pair pictured. These are in nearly perfect condition and the sound quality is excellent! All drivers work properly. These are actually a 4-way speaker with a 10” deep bass (subwoofer) on the back, 8” midwoofer on the front, 4.5” midrange and 1” aluminum dome tweeter. New grill cloth was installed and all drivers were inspected and found to be in excellent condition with no signs of damage or deterioration, so you can expect many years of enjoyment out of these! The stands are custom built and are 1.5” taller than the original stands. This means that you don’t have to tilt them back very far to get them aimed correctly so that the midrange is directly on axis with your ears. This also provides a higher soundstage and better overall fidelity! You can pay for these in person, you don’t have to pay immediately, even if you use the buy it now option. This way you can inspect them first before paying, and I don’t lose the 3 percent fee.
