Serviced UHER 4000 Report Monitor (Ex BBC Bristol). Disclaimer - Even though I service machines to be working, anything can go wrong. These machines are 40 (reaching 50 years old!) and need almost rebuilding or major parts replaced to be future proofed for another few decade. Hence why this isnt an refurbishment. COMES WITH THE FOLLOWING; Uher 4000 Report Monitor Unit. Genuine UHER Brown Leather Case. Plastic 5 Empty Reel. (Does NOT come with PSU but can possibly be arranged). DOES WORK WITH BATTERIES! This charming little machine has been personally serviced by myself and comes with a wonderful genuine UHER leather case to match. Both of which were ex-BBC Bristol items. The 4000 unit is a mono, 3-head machine mainly used for field recordings and journalism back in the early 80s. These days can be used as more musical devices such as tape echo, tape loops and still a field recorder! Ive self-serviced this machine and every other machine I have worked on and sold. This machine is NOT REFURBISHED. Refurbishment implies that caps or major parts have been replaced. Which is rarely necessary unless a machine has seen significant use. Unlike many other sellers here, my machines are professionally tested thoroughly and aligned to meet professional studio standards. I spend a decent amount of labour time on each one of these machines so please take that into consideration with the price. Ill list my work below. Servicing and maintenance - - Flywheel clean, oil and adjustments. - Various adjustments to mechanisms to help the machine run consistently. - Lots of cleaning and re-greasing on various bits of moving mech. - All belts replaced and rubber idlers restored. - Heads cleaned & demagged. - Pinch roller clean. - Entire internal and external clean. - Thorough playback / record testing. Machine obviously comes with some physical defects and bumps. These were hard working machines. Comes from smoke-free home studio, away from animals. Uher 4400 Report Stereo IC Reel to Reel Tape Recorder with 2 X 5 inch spools - one with tape the other empty. Tape contains Jazz recording from the late 70s. Tracks 2-3 are fine. The speed selector gate also has a broken tooth which doesnt effect speed selection and could be glued back in place and probably reinforced from the back. All tape operations work ie Play, pause, fast forward and rewind - the meter lights work and the battery test too. The internals appear to be original and unmolested apart from a couple of capacitor replacements and a transistor. Original tantalum and BC109 will be included. Please note this is vintage audio equipment and is sold as seen so no returns - hopefully the pictures, description and video give a very detailed overview of the condition.
