Description
Marantz UD8004 High-End SACD, CD, DVD & Blu-ray player. Immaculate condition. Purchased by me on 09/11/2010 from Sight and Sound - see pic of original receipt. I moved house in June 2012, it got very carefully packed away for the move, put in the loft in the new house, and for various reasons never got used again - bit of a waste of a good CD player really. Just had a new boiler put in the loft and so a few boxes got moved and I found it again. Still in the original box, with all the original packaging, polystyrene inserts, user manual, addendum sheets.Original RC004UD remote control as supplied with unit (battery compartment OK as I took the batteries out) see pics.Original strange plug and power supply cord as supplied with unit - see pic.No marks, dings, scratches nothing - as new condition. Even got the original batteries supplied for the remote-control. Good enough for the Marantz Museum. If memory serves I used this mainly as a high-end CD player, so even the gold on the rear sockets is pretty much in mint condition. I didnt have a surround sound set-up, so L+R, optical and HDMI are probably the only things ever plugged in to. Anyway, unpacked it, plugged it in and hey-presto, still working after all this time. A testament to Marantz quality.Played CD, DVD and Blu-Ray disc OK, dont have SACD discs or setup so cant try that unfortunately.Again, see pics of display for the various formats running. As this has been in storage for a while, and there seems to be a few laser assemblies for sale on Ebay, I had a look at the service manual, and went through a few of the test-report settings - just to check it out as it had not been powered on for over 10 years! Total laser on time (TC1) : 51 hours - so it cost me about £40 per hour for the amount it was used! I also checked the 4 readings for the laser in test mode - again see pictures.T21 (CD laser) 61.99mA - 62.51mA - 0.52mA difference.T22 (DVD laser) 45.49mA - 46.54mA - 1.05mA difference.T23 (Blu-Ray Single Layer) 28.56mA - 29.04mA - 0.48mA difference.T24 (Blu-Ray Double Layer) 31.26mA - 32.30mA - 1.04mA difference. The test manual says if more than 12.00mA of difference the laser unit should be replaced, so at a worst case of 1.05mA I guess there is still a bit of life left in this one. I wont post the full specification, as if you have read this far you probably already know, but a few of the highlights: dts Master Audio/dts High Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Video DAC - Analog Devices 297MHz/14 bit, Audio DAC 192KHz/24 bit, Video Scaler Anchor Bay ABT2015. Power 55W (0.3W Standby), Weight 8.5kg.Frequency response SACD 2Hz-100KHz, BD/DVD 2Hz-88KHz, CD 2Hz-20KHz. S/N Ratio 120dB, Dynamic Range 110dB, THD (1KHz) 0.0015%. Private sale, not a dealer, so cant offer any warranty, hence starting this at a low bid.I will consider sensible offers. Any questions, ping me a message and I will try to answer. The Black Rhodium cable shown on the receipt is NOT included. I would prefer collection as it is a delicate piece of equipment, but I will ship if necessary. It will need to be fully insured, so expect a reasonable postage cost at 8.5kg weight. I have put in an estimate for shipping, but will confirm once final price and destination are known. Thanks for looking..
