Vintage Pioneer TX-6500 II AM/FM Mono/Stereo Analog Radio Tuner - Tested Working SEE PICS! Gorgeous silver early 1970s stereo radio tuner. Works perfectly. Has some light cosmetic wear as shown. Bulb on right might need replacement.

Restoration DetailsThis unit was meticulously restored by Marblehead Audio in July of 2023. All electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, including the large off board coupling and main capacitors We used either Wima Film (for 4.7uf or smaller) or Nichicon & Panasonic electrolytic capacitors. We exclusively use low ESR or low leakage, high-quality electrolytic capacitors. Wima film caps are an upgrade over the original electrolytic capacitors providing superior sound and virtually unlimited life. The coupling capacitors were replaced with high quality 3300uf 63v United Chem-Con capacitors. Similarly, the main capacitor was replaced with a Kemet 4700uf 80v capacitor. All capacitors are of equal or (in most cases) increased voltage. A select few filter capacitors were increased in capacitance to provide better bass and transient response. A number of known problematic transistors were also replaced. Not all transistors were replaced, nor should they be. We replace only those that are known problems since production of the TX-6500 II. Similar to the transistors, we replaced a few select diodes. Both AM & FM work flawlessly and pick up stations with ease. Lamps were replaced with new incandescents to maintain original look. All switches, pots, fuses, push button and other non-soldered connection points (rca inputs, speaker connections, etc) were treated with Caig products.CosmeticsThis TX-6500 II has a few flaws on the faceplate and the bonnett has been repainted. If you stick it in there just right you can turn on and off the unit. However, I always just kept it in the on position and just had a switch on the plug and did it that way with no issues. Stereo Reciever Onkyo TX-6500 MKii. This is an oldie, but goodie. It represents Onkyos best efforts from the1979-1980 time frame. Boasts anoutstanding power amplifier rated at 100W per channel, a frequency responsefrom 3Hz to 80,000Hz with <0.05% THD at full rated power (20Hz to 20,000Hz). But, that doesn’t tell the whole story. The output stage can put out 24A and 48V(peak), so there’s a ton of reserve, and it drives 2 ohm loads with aplomb. This beast drove my Martin-Logan Sequel IIelectrostatics without breaking a sweat with absolutely transparent sound. Has an excellent phono pre-amp and one of thebest FM tuners available at the time. It has occasional slight noise in the volume control, butotherwise this baby still performs like a champ. $925 plus shipping (48lbs).
