Toshiba dvd recorder model RD-XS32. This is a US NTSC model manufactured in 2004. This lot includes dvd player/recorder, original remote control, and power cord. Nothing else is included. All other images besides player, remote, and cord are for demonstration purposes-only. I used this unit ONLY for its awesome 3D comb filter (for composite CVBS source video) for capturing laserdiscs. For laserdisc, and non-Super VHS vcrs, the chroma & luma signals are combined, which causes dot crawl and rainbows. A comb filter can help with those artifacts. The dvd drive plays factory pressed dvds, has a little trouble playing some burnt dvds. My guess is it plays DVD [MINUS] R better than DVD [PLUS] R. I have never burnt a disc with this unit so I can not confirm it works. If you want an answer, I will say no, this dvd recorder only plays factory pressed NTSC discs and will not burn them to be safe. Again, this unit was only used as a pass-through device for composite video. You can output s-video or even component (RGB) once the video passes through the comb filter. The video is from the laserdisc called Video Essentials and shows the Snell & Wilcox moving orb test pattern. This is a pretty good indicator on how the 3d comb filter responds while being challenged. You should not see any distortion or rainbows in boxes 300 & 400. Will be well packaged. No returns.
