Toshiba Hd-Xe1 HD DVD Player RARE HD DVD VINTAGE FORMAT ! Rare Hd Dvd format player, this was the Hi Definition format that lost out to Blu Ray. Films come in Red Hd Dvd cases rather than the blue cases for blu rays. Just over 1,000 titles were released before they threw in the towel and conceded defeat to blu ray in the hi def war. Many Hd Dvd titles can be bought cheaply on eBay and from stores such as Cex. Many experts agreed films released in the Hd Dvd format looked better than their blu ray counterparts. Collecting films can become addictive and a challenge as they become more rarer to find along with the Hd Dvd players themselves. Hd-Xe1 was the top of the range HD DVD format model costing £600 when released (£964 in todays money !). Excellent mechanical condition and lovely cosmetic condition, no nasty scratches on top surface, Id give cosmetic condition an 9.5/10 maybe even 10/10 but zoom in on the photos and make your own mind up. Includes 2 fairly rare Hd Dvd titles Stallone Rambo First Blood Parts I + II. Includes original box and packaging, it is pretty rare to find a boxed one these days and this will help keep and increase the players value as time goes by. ***Please note that Hd Dvds released by Warner Bros are well known to be susceptible to disc rot due to a manufacturing fault that meant they didnt get enough of a protective coating that prevents it, (Blu Ray industrial sabotage ????) so my advice would be to avoid buying Warner Bros Hd Dvds unless the seller can assure you they will play**** Includes the original backlit remote and not an ugly generic remote some sellers list players with. (One sold for £130 recently with generic remote and didnt have the original box????). *****WARNING**** DO NOT ATTEMPT TO UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE ON THIS PLAYER (or any other Hd Dvd players you might buy).
