I have no idea why this is called Laboratory because it is just a radio, this company is making stuff up. Anyway, this unit works, but with three compromises: 1. No original transformer. I have another one that works (12V) 2. The unit was coated with rubber texture just like various laptops and the rubber coating always gets sticky after years. It is very difficult to remove the coating. 4. The AM/FM selector has problems. This is just a rotary switch, but it is having contact problems. I think the AM cannot be switched on but the FM works. The antenna is just fine. The sound of the unit is good. Tuning dial is good.

Speaker lettering has some fading. This does not come with a cord it will need to be purchased separate.

He took the guts from his low-slung Model One tabletop unit and rearranged them vertically, swapping a stately wooden case for road-ready plastic. The four elements of radio enjoyment are represented by as many openings in the front of the case: while the AM / FM / OFF switch and volume knob are nothing fancy, the 2 1/4-inch monaural speaker and tuning knob are riddled with subtle thrills.
