Generally in pretty good condition with wear and a few blemishes commensurate with age – please see photographs, it will come professionally packaged and of course has our usual three month warranty. Also fitted to this turntable package is an A&R P77 cartridge but as we have no knowledge with regard to its age or previous use this item is not covered by the warranty. The Thorens TD-160 came in several variations: The mark I, mark II and Super. As the name would suggest, the Thorens TD-160 Super is the best of the bunch, as it comes with a heavier plinth and bottom plate, as well as a damped sub-chassis. But make no mistake the TD-160 was an excellent turntable in all variations. The real reason for its enormous popularity is its high level of ‘tweakability’, and in fact there are a fair number of companies who undertake everything from a set-up to a full blown restoration. Lovely Thorens TD160 B MK11 with SME 3009 with original plinth Oak veneered in real walnut and waxed to a lovely finish Fitted with Ortofon VMS 20E MK11 which matches this arm perfectly, sounds fantastic New custom made lid fitted with rega hinges ( I think these work best as they enable the dust cover to lift off so much easier ) Thicker MDF baseboard finished in satin black with new rubber feet . (Can supply the original if preferred) Polished platter Overall this turntable is set up perfectly ,needs nothing and sounds really nice. Unfortunately I will definitely not post due to the very delicate nature of the turntable so collection only from Felixstowe, Suffolk , where you can have a listen before taking away if you wish. Thorens Td160b Face Plate and Inner Platter. Td160 plinth - looks like it is from a much later model. This has a much finer veneer than the original TD160 plinth and looks like it is Mdf rather than chipboard as per the 1970a original. The colour is darker as well more like rosewood. The plinth has cutouts for lid hinges and it doesn’t have the aluminium strip on the front upon which the lid rests when shut. This listing includes: -Plinth -Faceplate -Inner platter fixed -Plinth base (MDF) and rosewood feet/spikes and disks for feet -SME Armboard Excluded: -Outer platter -Platter mat -Tonearm -Motor -Speed adjust -Power leads and circuit -Lid and hinges -Belt I had a phase of restoring and customising Thorens TD160 turntables and accumulated lots of parts and spares, I can’t be certain where they all came from or how old used they are.
