{Title} Item Description The Technics SL-P990 is a high end sought after vintage compact disc player by Technics - Made in Japan in 1989. It delivers high-quality sound and is very well made with some fantastic features including VU meters (ON A CD PLAYER)! Many regard this as one of the best CD players ever made! The P990 model is extremely rare and hard to come across these days. Especially in very good condition and nice working order like this one Many think the SL-P999 that came after the P990 was basically the same but although a great player itself, it was a slightly cheapened out version and inferior in a few ways. The P990 features a larger window for seeing the disc play, and a direct drive motor for better sound isolation. This completely isolates the CD from any mechanical spindle motors that every CD player has thus eliminating vibration and potential skips or motor issues. It was expensive to build and way under appreciated as a feature of this player. The P555, P770 and P999 did not have this. Has the odd very light scratch/ mark or blemish...but nothing significant at all. It has been really well looked after and cherished by just the one owner since new! The top of the case has recently been re-sprayed. It is not an exact match as its nearly impossible to match this Technics colour, but looks really nice. Although obviously not a perfect factory finish ( it still has some slight blemishes and very small ding on the top)..... It is a very close match and unless really looking under bright light most people would not notice. It looks a lot better than most covers I have seen of this age all deeply scratched and beaten up! The front facia is near mint with barely a mark on it.Details: Powers on and the display is nice and bright and all the buttons work. The tray belt has just been replaced with a brand new one - it was ok but I changed anyway as I wasnt sure of the age of the old one. The laser has been cleaned and the sled rails cleaned and lubricated. It has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out down to every last button and all switches etc have been cleaned with contact cleaner where necessary.It has been tested with a selection of discs and played all of them great! Occasionally on certain discs it takes a few seconds to load the disc, or a few seconds to play the first track. However once playing it skips between tracks quickly and has never not loaded a disc for me (tried about 10 different discs)! Includes the original and very rare remote (also in very good, clean condition and working well), Power lead and high quality RCA Cables plus a print out copy of the original manual. The unit will be packaged extremely well to ensure safe arrival. You can choose between 2 modes of playback speed per rotation : approximately 1 second (slow) and approximately 30 seconds (fast), and access is possible in 1/25 second increments at the minimum.Equipped with direct access function by 20 key operation.It is equipped with edit guide function equipped with digital peak search, and digital peak search between A and B is also possible.It is equipped with a large 2-channel digital level meter with 20 segments each for left and right.Equipped with a playing position display, the total time of the disc and the position of the music can be displayed simultaneously.It is equipped with functions such as auto-queue, 32-track random program, random play, one track / all track / program track / repeat between A and B, and programmable music scan.Equipped with timer play function which can select 3 modes of normal / random / program.
