Technics Portable CD Player SL-XP7 with Case SH-CDB7 These are highly sought after by collectors as they are one of the first CD players from the mid 80s as well as one of the first high end personal CD players. What was revolutionary at the time is that this used rechargeable batteries which is embedded in the case or could be directly used by plugging into the wall. Those that know about these understand that they are hard to find and especially hard to find in this sort of condition. There are a couple of very subtle scrapes and scratches, but all in all this is a nearly flawless CD player that was well taken care of. While it has been in my collection, I have always kept it in a box so that it was dust free and not jostled around. The bad on this is that there is no charging cord so I am unfortunately unable to test the unit and therefore have to sell as is. With a cord and functioning, these are easily $1000+ units. Usually the case alone goes for a couple hundred and this case is definitely in fantastic shape. I did note that it does spin so it is not seized. It has not been opened or serviced while I have owned it and it would be recommended to also get this serviced. Shipping is with Canada Post and is a flat rate with tracking. Shipping to Canada is $35 and to the USA is $50. It’s supplied with the original stylus which is still in good condition. These Shure cartridges are now very hard to find and rival the Technics P23 / P24 / P30 and the Ortofon OMP cartridges for high-quality T4P-compatible cartridges to fit the classic 1980s Technics SL linear-tracking range and their competitors.I’ve used this sparingly in recent years on my classic Technics SL-7 linear-tracking turntable with great results - and also fitted it to an Ortofon headshell adapter for a standard headshell, on my Pioneer PLX-500W and Audio-Technica AT-LP1240 turntables. Obviously, though its working fine at present, as a vintage item several years old there is no guarantee of longevity and no return or warranty applies to this auction.It’s a highly-rated cartridge with a full sound that has performed well on either a linear-tracking T4P arm or on a ‘conventional’ turntable as described. In very nice used condition, works perfectly and sounds great! No functional issues whatsoever, only a few minor cosmetic imperfections, including a few light scratches, and some very small hairline cracks on the dust cover near the back hinge. Cartridge and stylus are excellent- the cartridge is original but the stylus has been replaced recently. I will ship UPS Ground or Priority Mail, no later than 1 business day handling time (business days are M-F). This will be packed with exquisite care! The SL-PC10 is a five-disc carousel-style changer. Made in Japan and released by Technics in 1989. Technics designed the SL-PC10 like an old-fashioned turntable. You lift the CD players transparent lid to load the discs on a large turntable that looks something like a big daisy. Each of the five daisy petals holds one disc. You can look through the cover to see which discs are loaded while the SL-PC10 is playing. Better still, you can raise the lid and change four of the discs while the fifth one plays. The front panel contains all the controls and displays of a full-featured CD player. A fluorescent display indicates which track on which disc is playing, as well as being switchable between four time modes. A tiny animated display shows the discs going around in a circle as the daisy platter rotates. You can program 20 selections in any sequence from among the five discs. A random-play mode shuffles all the tracks on one disc and then moves on to the next disc until all the tracks on each disc have been played in random order. The repeat-play mode replays each disc or replays the selections youve programmed. The famed Technics linear motor transport moves the laser in a flash. The SL-PC10 skips from the first to last track of a disc in about a second. It takes the changer about five seconds to skip from one disc to another. This item has been tested and performs very well.
