They seem to be intact and have decent tension. However, the playback and other features were only working still intermittently. I closed it back up and started playing tapes and I got it to work for a good hour or so, so I started to clean the heads. When I did that, tapes stopped playing again. It’s a really clean deck and I’d love to keep it out of the landfill. Hopefully someone can pick it up cheap and refurbish it. I just don’t have time as I am liquidating a very large collection. Every feature and function work just as they are intended to. All buttons, switches and knobs work as they should. Sound quality is still crisp and clear. Audio ports are still firm and work perfectly. Cosmetically this tape deck is in good condition with minor cosmetic wear in the form of some light scuffing and some scratches to the top of the housing units body.
