We believe this was the 84 era machine. But it has DBX which Dolby B and C aside, is an extremely high quality noise reduction with virtually no compression involved. Playing high quality tapes on these ie chrome or preferably metal, gives a superb sound even to this day and that’s why these machines are being sought after still. Let alone being used as karaoke machines, of course! It has recently been serviced with new belts fitted where applicable, checked and is in full working order. Technics RS-BX501 Stereo Cassette Tape Deck with Dolby B C NR HX-PRO. It is in a lovely clean and fully working condition having been serviced prior to listing with new belts fitted, moving parts cleaned and re-greased, heads and pinch rollers cleaned. It shows some signs of previous use such as some light scuffs and scratches, mainly to the top lid and top fascia (see photos) some of which have been touched in, however they are not highly visible without close inspection especially when stack with other equipment. The Technics RS-BX646 is a three head deck with off tape monitoring, but the star feature, the one that sets it apart from other decks in the same price rage, is the Advanced-ATC (Auto Tape Calibration) process, which in just under 40 seconds per calibration run, will auto calibrate bias, level and equalisation, with both channels tested at three frequencies.
