It combines traditional analogue and cutting-edge digital technologies to deliver outstanding performance. The coreless direct-drive motor ensures stable rotation without cogging, while high-precision motor control enhances ideal rotation conditions. The platter is designed for high-rigidity and vibration damping, producing clear sound, and the tonearm achieves high initial-motion sensitivity for precise tracking of records.Universally applicable as a high-end turntable with the appropriate system, or as a DJ turntable, the SL-1200GR delivers class and superior audio quality, packing almost 4 decades worth of advancements. This is a premium model targeted for the audiophile and DJ out there looking for a high-quality product with better sound and build. In terms of sound and mechanical performance, another standard was reached with this model, packing more robustness and solid build quality than its 1200/1210 predecessors up to M5G. The chassis is a dual layer construction of die-cast aluminum and BMC (Bulk Molding Compound), which performs a similar function to the TNRC (technics non-resonant compound) found amid the triple layered chassis of the original SL-1200. The advancements in modern production techniques clearly show the greater precision in its assembly, fit and finish. With the SL-1200GR, everything feels more solid. Upon testing these out, I couldnt help but notice the satisfying pleasing tactile feel to them. These are simply a dream to have both as a collector and as a DJ.Just like what happened with the previous legacy models like the MK5 & M5G, the GR has also joined the club in terms of rising value. This model was produced from 2017 till 2021 until Technics decided to relocate their high-end turntable production from Utsunomiya, Japan, to Malaysia. On April 1st 2021, all Technics turntable production including the high-end tables was entirely moved to the new facility in Malaysia. The ones that were produced in Japan before the 2021 date were snatched and recirculated for a higher price by many dealers knowing that they would be sought after. This makes the SL-1200GR (Made in Japan version) highly collectible and thus increases value quite a bit. There will be no more of these and one can only acquire either from the very few available thats left or from the recirculated/used ones on the market.I would really love to see these set up in the right home by a special buyer who will appreciate what they truly are.
