Good cosmetic condition, but not without flaws. The volume knob is a bit wobbly but feels like it is working when you turn it. As in there is some resistance when turning it. The unit powers on and the decibel meter lights up. However, I can’t get a cassette in the actual deck, it doesn’t fit no matter how I try to put it in. I’ve heard of this issue and it seems there are some mechanical parts that aren’t moving out of the way when the tray is ejected, but should be fixable. When I press play or FF or REW it doesn’t spin. Also likely fixable. You are buying this as is, and if you can fix it you will have a beautiful cassette deck for your sound system.

This Sony TC-K81 stereo cassette deck is a great blast from the past. It was manufactured in Japan in 1979/81 and still powers on. The deck is in the color silver, has a screen size of 4.25 x 3.25, and is 5 inches in height, 16.6 inches in length, and 10.5 inches in width. The features of this cassette deck include the ability to play and record cassette tapes. The brand is Sony and the model number is TC-K81. The unit powers on, but the tape deck does not work (it starts, but quickly fizzles out). Probably a belt issue, but I did not try to diagnose or repair. Note that all but one side screws are missing, so this has been opened before. Exterior has some minor marks and scuffs. Interior is clean. Sold as-is for parts or repair.
