Description
For sale is a Sony TA-N220 2/4 channel amplifier in perfect working order. Our tech has gone through and confirmed that this piece is functioning exactly as it should. Cosmetically this amp is in okay condition. Though there are scratches throughout, they are not too big and do not take away much from the overall look of the piece. The cosmetic condition can be seen in the pictures. This is a very interesting amp in that it can be configured to run two, three, or four channels. Whether you want to run only front L/R stereo, L/C/R, or even add a sub, this amp is ready to meet your needs. I got myself this amp to do some experiments with self made loudspeakers. It supplies power to pair of midsize 2-way Speakers with components from Focal and Bowers & Wilkins. Frequency dividing and some equalization are provided by a programable DSP. Although the TA-N220 is not a very sophisticated HiFi component, it does its job very well. The sound is clear and warm and powerful, perhaps the bass could be somewhat tighter, but its o. k..The speaker cable terminals are of comparatively high quality, Thick bare cable ends can be surely connected. However, there are two important points of criticism:1. The Amp is not suitable for speaker impedances below 6 Ohms.2. The Amp offers the option of bridging the channels, so you can use it as a 2x100 W Amp as well as a 2 x 50 W plus 1 x 100 W. This means good versatility. But the bridging switches are located on the front panel and can easily be operated by chance which may be fatal under some circumstances. These switches should have been located at the rear or covered under a lid.All in all this is a special device which can be quite useful but is not suitable for unexperienced users. -by Airgap via HifiengineSpecificationsPower output: 50 watts per channel into 6?
