Conversion manual from Sony V-Fet 2SJ18 & 2SK60 to Mosfet TA-4650 and TA-5650 / Wega V-4810. This conversion is supplied in PDF format in English Complete with schematics, photos, instructions and trouble shooting. Very easy to perform by hobbyist with some experience in repair. The conversion is possible with different Mosfets types. I myself prefer Hitachi 2SJ50 / 56 & 2SK135 / 176. The BUZ900 series and 10N16, 10P16 are also possible. For Sale one vintage (1975-1977?) Sony TA-4650 in proper Euro spec (not Japanese / US 110v version) One could write reams on the benefits of Static induction transistors or Vertical Field effect transistors (V-Fets). Just do an internet search if thats new to you. (Too expensive to produce & too hard to use, seems to have been their death knell) But... V-FETs - Sony went off and developed a transistor that worked like a Valve/Tube = Result a transistor amp that sounds like a tube amp! So these are *bit* famous for their musicality, among other things. Only problem is, theres getting less and less of them because some common diodes in the associated circuit have a tendency to die, taking the whole merry show with them. Actually, Sony went off and re-invented the wheel several times. Not only is the Output stage V-fet; so is the phono stage, very specifically aimed at turntable users (I am not one) but the 2sk79s are similar to an ECC88 - So you get the idea by now... This amp has been subject to a full restoration. Documented on DIYAudio but in summary: Those diodes replacedElectrolytic caps replacedClippy speaker terminals changed for banana typesFilm caps in the signal pathPSU centre grounding Changes associated with the Dutch service bulletinPotentiometers CLEANED Above all, re-biasing of the output devices I cant post the link to the article dont think, (even though I wrote it) so message me for a link if interested. The TA-4650 is very similar to the TA-5650 but without the paralleled output devices (2SK60 & 2SJ18), so lower power, but potentially cleaner sound.
