Motorola Talkabout T5000 W/ Charging Base Tested.

Purchased by us in Autumn 1982 specifically to watch the UK premiere of Star Wars on ITV. I recall that the price in Currys was well over £200 ( for a 14 TV ! ) so we had to buy it on The Never Never. This is how buyers referred to Hire Purchase Agreements at the time. I have checked and can confirm that this TV has been fully paid off and we now have every right to sell it on !The monitor-style with touch-sensitive controls was a very modernistic design for the late 1970s. However, with signal input limited to the aerial socket I have had to buy a previously-owned Icecrypt T5000 Freeview box with remote control to check that the TV is still working ok. This will go with the TV. The T5000 has a built-in RF Modulator so it is still possible to tune the TV through the aerial socket as there is no Scart or HDMI on the TV itself. Also, the TV is of standard definition quality and does not have a dedicated Sony remote as there was not one made for this set nor can it be adapted to work with one. The T5000 does have an EPG and you can channel up / down on its remote. The photos do not do justice to the actual picture quality due to interference effects from camera and the photo edit software. I have tried various cameras / phones / settings so the listing shows the best I can get. This is a compact but very heavy example of the Sony Corporation Trinitron Masterclass. It feels like 10 kgm plus to me. Having owned it for 40 years I want it to go on for a lot longer with someone who will care for it as we have done. I can confirm the TV and Freeview box are currently working fine but I cannot offer any ongoing warranty as such.Its an old piece of equipment, albeit having been very well looked after, and any prospective buyer must understand that it is sold as seen on the day. I would therefore suggest that for peace of mind it should be checked over and PAT tested by a competent person. If you need to see it working then please see my note below. I cannot provide any spare co-axial connection leads with the set but these are easy to source and inexpensive. In conclusion, I can only offer this TV as a collection or alternatively there may be the option of a mutually convenient meeting point within a reasonable distance of my home in Somerset. I do not have the right sort of packaging to adequately protect it nor do I trust carriers with delicate vintage electrical items. I charged them up before over a year ago. They last work and I put them away stored all this time unused since. My neighbor gave them to me after they moved away while cleaning house. I tested them then but never get to use it since. They were working before. I could list them as used and working but I am not familiar with it honestly. I dont even want to bother with it so I am selling AS IS for parts or not working. This way, if it ends up not working I would not be blamed. If they are working you got a good item then.
