Description
The Pinnacle BabyBoomer is an acoustic suspension subwoofer that provides deep, accurate bass that will take over a room from a mere 10-inch cabinet. Powered by its own 600-watt amplifier this Pinnacle subwoofer promises to outperform most coffee table sized subwoofers. This acoustic suspension subwoofer has dual active 8-inch subwoofers arranged in a bipole configuration for a massive bass response. The anti-clipping circuit in the Pinnacle BabyBoomer delivers undistorted bass even at high volume levels. Whats more, this Pinnacle subwoofer has a butyl rubber surround that provides durability and good cone control. FeaturesEnclosure: The Pinnacle Baby Boomer powered subwoofer features an acoustic suspension enclosure made from 3/4 MDF (medium-density fiberboard).Drivers: The subwoofer has two 8 heavyweight fibercone woofers with rubber surrounds. Each driver has a 2 voice coil and a 40 ounce magnet. They are mounted in a bipole configuration to give you maximum bass in a minimum of space. Not Video Shielded: The subwoofer is not video shielded. The speakers powerful magnets will cause picture distortion when placed in close proximity to a TV or computer monitor. Furthermore, it is recommended that magnetic media, such as audio/video tapes and computer discs, be kept at least 2-3 feet away from the subwoofer to prevent damage.Amplifier: The Baby Boomers amplifier is rated at a powerful 375 watts RMS, 600 watts peak.Isolation Cones: The subwoofer comes with four solid brass isolation cones to be installed on the bottom of the cabinet. These isolation cones are adjustable to allow you to level the cabinet, and improve the bass definition of the subwoofer. If you are placing the subwoofer on wooden or vinyl floors, it is recommended that a penny be placed under each cone to prevent any indentations.Auto-On Circuit: The Baby Boomer has an Auto-On Circuit which automatically turns on the amplifier when an audio signal is detected. It will automatically shut off the amplifier a few minutes after the audio signal stops. The LED indicator glows green when the unit is on, and red when the unit is off.Volume Control: This unit has a rotary control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer, relative to the other speakers in the system.Anti-Clipping Circuit: The Baby Boomer has an anti-clipping circuit to eliminate distortion when the bass is played at high levels.Phase Switch: The subwoofers phase switch allows you to select normal (0 degrees) or reverse (180 degrees). If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, toggling the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass attack.Crossover: The Baby Boomer offers a 24dB/octave, continuously variable low-pass crossover, adjustable from 50Hz to 150Hz. This adjusts the upper end of the subs frequency range. There is also a 6dB/octave fixed 80Hz high-pass crossover on the speaker level outputs.Crossover Bypass Switch: If you are connecting the subwoofer to a receiver with a Dolby Digital or DTS processor, the Crossover Bypass Switch (a two-position switch on the rear panel) should be in the On position, allowing your processor to set the crossover point. If you are not using a Dolby Digital or DTS processor, the switch should be in the Off position, activating the low-pass crossover in the subwoofer.Inputs and Outputs NotesLine Level Inputs: The Baby Boomer has gold-plated left and right line level inputs. If you are connecting the subwoofer to a receiver with a mono subwoofer output, you can use either the left or right input--no Y adapter is necessary.Speaker Inputs/Outputs: This unit has left and right 5-way binding post inputs for connecting the subwoofer to your receiver with speaker wire. Only 12, 14 or 16 gauge speaker wire is recommended. Smaller gauge wire will result in degraded performance. There is also a set of 5-way binding post outputs for passing the signal through to the main speakers. Connecting the subwoofer in this manner is only recommended if your receiver/amplifier does not have a line-level subwoofer output, or if your system could benefit by having the bass removed from the main speakers by the 80Hz high-pass filter on the speaker outputs.Dimensions and SpecificationsDimensions:Cabinet With Feet, Grilles and Connected RCAs: Width: 11.25, Height: 11.25, Depth: 11.492Cabinet Without Feet, Grilles or Connections: Width: 9.875, Height: 9.875, Depth: 9.875Weight: 30 poundsSpecifications:Power Output: 375 watts RMS, 600 watts peakSpecifications Note: The power output specification listed in the manual is 600 watts.
