Description STAX SR-407 Electrostatic Ear Speakers Condenser Headphones w/box Used Excellent[Condition]USED:ExcellentOperation confirmedThank you for visiting. We are selling STAX SR-407 Signature ? type = final version, top grade / same sound body as 507, inherited from SR-009 / super engineering plastic, out of print = PCOCC / single crystal conductor. As shown in the image, the original box and instruction manual (original) are included. Looking back on history, once upon a time 24 years ago, the SR-507 / 407 /307 /207 was released in 1979, when it was still the normal bias era.The final version of the model group marked the end of Staxs traditional lambda model.SR-507 / 407 /307 /207 Since it was introduced as the mainstay of the lineup, there is no doubt that it is a very capable machine. A few years ago, he launched his new L-700/500/300 as an Advanced Lambda, but in my personal opinion, the latest is not the best. I have experienced so many cases where this is not the case. It is not uncommon for older models to be reevaluated after a new model is released. This model also has the same potential, so if you own the latest model, I think its worth comparing and verifying. In this auction, we have items in a variety of conditions, but this item we would like to introduce this time is a used item in good condition and in good working condition. The weak points of this model are the adhesive peeling/misalignment of the ear pads and the tearing around the base of the head pad. His SR-507, 407, 307, and 207, which were released around this time, have suffered from frequent peeling of the ear pads due to aging, and the tearing of his head pad around the base is a common occurrence with Stax in recent years. Therefore, this problem is likely to occur not only with this model. This item is an early model, so the sealing material that the ear pads are attached to is made of urethane foam, so it doesnt tend to peel off like the nasty butyl rubber strings that come with the later models, making it sticky/sloppy. It is a relief that this will not happen. By the way, it is the fate of this lambda type that the adhesion gradually weakens from the edge around the ear pads, so we apologize for any inconvenience. This problem was also observed on this machine, but please rest assured that the adhesive was properly attached. There were no tears in the head pad, and there was no problem at all, so this part will remain as it is.Incidentally, the chronic problem of ear pads peeling off is due to the adhesive sealant used by Stax decreasing its adhesive strength over time. In particular, if the material is butyl rubber, it will progress even more easily if used or stored in a high temperature environment. If this happens, it will be necessary to replace the upholstery, but we are acutely aware that this task is extremely difficult. Stax has posted a video on how to replace it, so its not unreasonable to think that it can be done if you follow the steps, but even for those of us who are used to it, the process of peeling off the old sealing material, which has deteriorated in particular, is very time-consuming and sticky. Youll have to fight with the mess and it will take quite a while to complete the repair, so I think its better to just ask the manufacturer. The labor costs (including shipping) are not cheap, but once you experience them, you will understand.More than 50 years have passed since Stax released its first machine, the SR-1. Its been nearly 40 years since I started using STAX ear speakers. I own many models, including the flagship SR-009 at the time, and have collected them as a hobby.I enjoy using a variety of ear speakers, replacing them depending on my mood that day. Manufacturing Stax capacitor types requires great precision and extreme care, so most of the manufacturing process is still done by hand by skilled craftsmen, making them inefficient in some ways. It is made using a method. We are a manufacturer with a long history and tradition, which has continued to refine its technology and has maintained its identity for decades. It continues to be a unique presence that represents the true essence of Made in Japan, which unfortunately is being lost in modern Japan. STAXs condenser type ear speakers are (almost) unique in the electrostatic type.It has established a worldwide reputation, and its extremely clear and pure sound is colorless and transparent and full of moisture. It is characterized by a fresh, bright, clean, beautiful and elegant sound, with outstanding clarity and clarity. His exhilarating taste with excellent resolution and never tiring listening is his STAX!One of his characteristics is that he has excellent spatial expressiveness, and the sound field is very wide.[SR-407 Signature]His ? (lambda) type, Staxs main model, can be said to be the companys icon.It is a product with a unique form, and is the most well-known, with a wide variety of models. At one time, the company went bankrupt, and the fate of its unique electrostatic ear speakers was almost over. The SR-404 Signature / 303 Classic, which the companys volunteers put together and newly launched, Reborn Stax, staked its companys fortunes on, sold well, and his name recognition skyrocketed. Ten years later, his SR-507 / 407 Signature / 307 Classic underwent a long-awaited full model change. This item is the second son of his three brothers. It cannot be denied that not only this product but also the second grade position was often forced to play a disadvantageous role and its presence was weak, but considering its contents, it is a quite capable machine. I think there is no doubt. This ? type first appeared in 1979 when it was the old normal bias type, and the pro bias specification was introduced in 1982, so it lasted for 36 years until it was renewed as the current L series (Advanced Lambda) in 2015. Watari: It has become the backbone of Stax and has played a central role. This series = SR-507 / 407 Signature / 307 Classic has become the final model of the traditional lambda type. What is noteworthy is that it is equipped with the same sounding unit as its older brother 507, which was released in advance at the time. From the manufacturers perspective, this was a wise decision because sharing components would lead to cost savings. The SR-507 uses a head arc and genuine leather ear pads that can be said to be specially designed, which makes it more expensive, whereas the SR-407 uses the same head arc and synthetic leather ear pads as before. This is why we were able to keep the price down. It has the same sounding unit as its big brother, the SR-507, but the major difference is that the output cable uses a single-crystal conductor (PCOCC), which was developed during the heyday of audio and is now out of print. I feel that this output cable plays a major role in giving it a different charm than the 507. The key sounding body unit has been renovated and significantly evolved. In an effort to further increase the rigidity of the sounding body/vibrating membrane, which is the heart of the product, we adopted his super engineering plastic material. Surprisingly, the vibration membrane is made of the same material as the flagship at the time, SR-009. By packaging each sound unit in reinforced resin, it became possible for the first time to fix it to the ear speaker housing with bolts (combined with adhesive), achieving even higher rigidity. The squeamish output cable uses a wide, low-capacity type with distance between each conductor. The output cable is made of precious PC-OCC (single-crystal high-purity oxygen-free copper) conductor, which is now out of print. It is a copper material whose production has unfortunately been discontinued due to its unprofitability, and is manufactured using the Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) method (heated mold continuous casting method) devised by Atsumi Ohno, a professor at Chiba Institute of Technology. Because Furukawa has registered the trademark PC-OCC for single-crystal, oxygen-free, high-purity copper wire, the OCC conductors manufactured by the company can be called PC-OCC. The conductor made using this manufacturing method is made of a material with no elements that interfere with signal transmission, with theoretically zero crystal boundaries, and the sound quality it produces has captivated many fans, including Saek, Acolyba, Oyaide, Krypton, Harmonics, etc. This is a very famous electrical material that was used by cable manufacturers as their main product. In Japan, it may seem ordinary because it is a manufacturing country, but overseas it is a conductor that has established an extremely high reputation. As promised (!?), the sponge is prone to deterioration, but the inside of the back cabinet on the outer side is still in good condition. The inner side is a current mesh screen that does not have to worry about deterioration. There are some scratches and scuffs from use, but I dont think there is any major damage. There may be some oversights, but we have posted as many images as possible, so please refer to them. Please refer to the pictures for more details. Please check the photos and dont hesitate to ask any questions about the item !Thank you.International Buyers - Please Note:Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyers responsibility.
