Mein Vater, der ehemalige Betreiber eines Lautsprecher-Fachgeschäfts und von dem ich die Lautsprecher habe, erinnert sich jedoch nicht an eine solche Reparatur. Es ist daher wahrscheinlich, dass diese Arbeiten von einem früheren Besitzer durchgeführt wurden. Trotz dieser Spuren funktionieren die Lautsprecher ausgezeichnet und liefern eine hervorragende Klangqualität. Zur Aufwertung der Optik könnte das Holz aufgearbeitet werden. Eine Möglichkeit dazu ist es, das Holz abzuschleifen und neu zu lasieren bzw. eine Mischung aus Beize und Lack aufzutragen. Dies würde der Oberfläche ein frisches Aussehen verleihen, und anders als durch eine Lackierung, den Look der Holzfasern erhalten.

Here we have a matched pair of genuine Spendor LS3/5A Speakers. Due to covid, we have downscaled oue inhouse edit facilities, and moved to remote working, there fore I have forsale some surplus kit. they are ex national broadcaster, with a single owner, always lived in edit suites, never in damp or humid OB trucks. There are some small scratches on the woodwork, I could have touched them up, but prefer to sell them in their present state rather than tarted up. You can do this, or keep them as they are? the choice is yours... Please view the pictures carefully, as theyt form part of the condition description, and its easier to see than describe condition, the sound units are origonal, and in perfect condition. It was derived from the LS3/5, which was conceived and developed by the BBC Engineering Department in the early 1970s, when it was under the stewardship of Dudley Harwood. Having found no commercially produced small loudspeaker that met the requirement for naturalness and sonic neutrality, the BBC specifically set out to design a speaker to achieve natural overall sound quality and good dynamic range for monitoring broadcasts in tightly confined spaces. As the BBC broadcasting unit was about to order another batch of the monitor, it was found that the supplier had modified the drive units, meaning the LS3/5 design had to be fundamentally revised. The BBCs Designs Department was called upon to adapt the product in light of the supply changes. Modifications were made to adapt to the new drive units and deal with the altered resonance pattern, and the LS3/5 became the LS3/5A.[ The BBC then licensed the product to a small number of private sector companies. Production began in 1975.
