Sony XDR-F1HD Digital Tuner - Black. Never used or even unsealed from factory plastic wrap. Both unit and remote are in this never unsealed and never used condition. Stored in my own climate controlled storage building since I purchased it. I have only removed accessories from box to examine. Box is almost like new. Cord is attached to unit and is never factory bagged. I purchased 3 of these brand new from a dealer, all having sequential serial numbers. I had one modified and kept the other two as backup. But when I couldnt find the remote for the modified one, I borrowed the remote from one of them (another unit, not this one). This was the unit in which nothing inside was ever used or even touched. In the photo showing the factory sealed tuner units at the bottom of their respective boxes, this is the one on the right, having a serial number ending in 969. The XDR F1HD was a revolutionary AM/FM tuner. Not only did it handle HD Radio (which has mostly been a dud) it used advanced DSP technology to do the actual Intermediate Frequency (IF) section of the tuner, instead of relying on tuned analog filters. Now the IF filtering that makes an FM tuner selective and/or low distortion is done adaptively with perfect digital accuracy, resulting in a amazingly quiet tuner, basically quieter than any other tuner, on nearly any signal, no matter how distant, and it was very selective and sensitive too. If thats what you need, this tuner is unique and amazing. Personally I prefer very high end analog tuners, which are much more expensive and need periodic adjustment to stay accurate. I am a tuner geek and I plan to keep my other unit as the best thing of its kind. This XDR-F1HD tuner has never been used. I also guarantee that it will work, for 14 days. They tend to run hot so I recommend turning it off when not in use, to keep it working for a long time.

This XDR-F1HD works perfectly and should last a long time with the included modifications. 2010 manufacture date makes this newer than most of the F1HD tuners. There are some cosmetic scuffs and scrapes as seen in the photos. Internally, the circuit boards have very little indication of any heat damage. This has had two internal cooling fans added to correct the heat problems common to these receivers. It has a custom forced-analog mode toggle switch installed on the back to override reception of weak HD-radio signals and force analog reception. When the switch is in up position it receives HD-radio normally but when switched down it runs in analog-only mode. It also has been upgraded with a 7.5 Farad Super Capacitor to provide backup power for station presets and clock time in case of power outage or unplugging the receiver. This sale includes a working non-OEM remote control.
