Sony Walkman Cassette Player FM/AM Radio WM-FX251 w/MDR-101 Headphones WORKS!!This is a decent looking, working Sony Walkman cassette player, model WM-FX251. It features an AM/FM radio with digital tuner, Mega Bass, 20 station presets, and a set of black Sony MDR-101 headphones.Cosmetically fair to good with typical rubs, wear, scratches, etc., mostly at the corners. New CORRECT belt (from FixYourAudio) installed. Cassette deck plays well and it sounds good. Playback head, pinch roller, and capstan have all been cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. All buttons seem to work and radio works well, too! Headphones work well, with very light use wear. Sony Walkman WM-101 new belt & working perfectly Collectable From 1980s. I just think this is absolutely stunning - in my opinion Sony at the very height of their powers in the mid 1980s - beautiful design, combined with miniaturisationwithout sacrificing any functionality! The WM-101 is highly sought-after, particularly in black Working really nicely, but still dont expect 100% performance from it as its about 35 years old machine. Refurbished and serviced with a new belt and playing fine. all gears have been checked and are intact Comes on its own in a plain packing. See attached photos for detail cosmetic condition. To me its in excellent condition as compare to its age.

Stunning Red Sony Walkman WM-101 Fully Serviced Including Belt, Heads and Pinch Roller (s) clean. The unit is not much bigger than the cassette and is wonderfully engineered with a neat mint case! A couple of very small light marks - examine the photos and zoom in. Sound quality is great with excellent treble and great depth and frequency range to the sound - its analogue magic but please NOTE the unit can have a wobble now and again with the tape slowing etc - these units contain vintage electronics and as the belt has been replaced could well be the motor a bit weak with age. I also suspect because of this the auto- reverse function might not always work but turning the tape is no big shakes - enjoy the unit for what it is! Also please note the unit struggles with the FF and RR functions - these are vintage units and on all my Walkmans I avoid using these functions just have a good quality mix tape with all your favourite tracks. Also avoid using tapes longer than C60 - a C90 tape is a lot of tape to move for a portable battery player - especially one like this dating back to the 1980s. This was one of the first Walkmans to use a gum stick battery - you struggle to get a quality gum stick batteries these days - with this unit the gum stick battery holder is missing but you get the original holder for the AA battery which works a treat! Own a piece of history- from my own collection of Walkmans. Note the unit comes with no box and who will need your own quality over-ear headphones! There is also one tiny case screw missing but this no detrimental impact on case strength. The unit will be supplied with a new AA Duracell Battery fitted. When i hit the play button i am only getting static. The volume works as the static will get louder if u raise the volume. I could not get The fast forward and rewind buttons to actually rewind or fast forward. So not sure what is the problems. Other then that no other issues. Very clean. No dings or scuffs. Red Sony Walkman WM-101 Item Description: I just think this is absolutely stunning - in my opinion Sony at the very height of their powers in the mid 1980s - beautiful design, combined with miniaturisation without sacrificing any functionality! The WM-101 is highly sought-after, particularly in Red. Working really nicely, perfect in one direction, a little wow and flutter in the other, but still within acceptable bounds in my opinion, listen to the video and judge for yourself. Refurbished and serviced with a new belt and playing perfectly - all gears have been checked and are intact. Video Link: As with all my refurbished Walkmans you dont have to take my work for how good they sound because I provide you with a video so you can hear for yourself. Im not a professional sound engineer - I feed the output from the walkman into the mic input on my Canon DSLR. These are complex analogue machines in a digital world - the old belt residue must be completely and meticulously removed - otherwise the new belt will wobble causing wow and flutter. There are plenty of guys on ebay refurbishing these but if you havent heard it play then you really dont know what youre getting - except with me where you do know exactly what youre getting because youve heard it play for yourself. And if it doesnt sound like it did in the video when it arrives then its not as described and Ill take it back for a full refund and even cover the postage. Condition: Physically its in nice used condition, it had suffered from a small battery leak which has marked the bottom of the back of the case - but has not caused any mechanical or electrical damage - please study the photos carefully. Mechanically the belt had turned to goo so the old belt residue has been meticulously cleaned and a new belt installed - the head, roller and capstan have been cleaned - so it now plays perfectly, in stereo at the right speed with no wow or flutter, it rewinds and fast-forwards as it should. All gears have been checked and are intact. The volume potentiometer has been cleaned so the volume adjusts smoothly without crackle or dropout. It still has the battery cover and the battery terminals are now reasonably corrosion free after a good scrape with a knife. This Walkman is useable on a daily basis - sounds as good as the day it was new and should not give you any trouble for years to come. Why buy from me?
