For sale is a REPAIRED Sony VPL-VW285ES 4k HDR Home Theater Projector with 3431 hours on the bulb. I received this unit with NO HDMI on either input 1 or input 2 - and this unit requires HDMI to be functional (No other input types). I verified that the HDMI switch chip had failed, as well as a pair of filters. Once these were replaced, the unit functioned as expected - Both HDMI inputs operate normally and the unit was tested on each input for a minimum of 5 hours (I believe more like 7 or 8 hours each). I discuss this repair (with some still images of the repair itself! There is some cosmetic damage around the serial port on the side of the projector. Power cord for the unit included. No other accessories. I do not have a remote for this unit - they are available on Amazon however ($12, RM-PJ25). The unit can be controlled with the buttons on the side. Make sure whatever HDMI cable you use is a high quality cable, preferably purchased from a physical location (Amazon has a lot of cheap cables that wont work for 4k). As for some advice I found while researching this unit - Do not run long length of copper HDMI cables to the HDMI inputs. Apparently the cause of this failure is a voltage generated from nearby thunderstorms (lightning strikes) and it will fry the HDMI inputs. My recommendation is to do some research to find non-copper based HDMI cables or keep the cable short! The image from this projector is spectacular, and I would love to keep it - Hopefully someone else can enjoy this projector brought back to life!
