For Sale one vintage (1975-1977?) Sony TA-4650 in proper Euro spec (not Japanese / US 110v version) One could write reams on the benefits of Static induction transistors or Vertical Field effect transistors (V-Fets). Just do an internet search if thats new to you. (Too expensive to produce & too hard to use, seems to have been their death knell) But... V-FETs - Sony went off and developed a transistor that worked like a Valve/Tube = Result a transistor amp that sounds like a tube amp! So these are *bit* famous for their musicality, among other things. Only problem is, theres getting less and less of them because some common diodes in the associated circuit have a tendency to die, taking the whole merry show with them. Actually, Sony went off and re-invented the wheel several times. Not only is the Output stage V-fet; so is the phono stage, very specifically aimed at turntable users (I am not one) but the 2sk79s are similar to an ECC88 - So you get the idea by now... This amp has been subject to a full restoration.
