This receiver is conservatively rated at 80 watts per channel but will produce substantially more in actual use thanks to Sonys Legato Class A amplification circuit. Total harmonic distortion (THD) is a paltry .08% for exceptionally clean sound output. This is a superbly engineered receiver with great attention to detail to insure outstanding sound quality from all sources. It is from Sonys Elevated Standard line of equipment created for the audiophile consumer and a great choice as the centerpiece for any top quality audio system. Its worth noting this receiver has an exceptional phono section just in case you are interested in spinning some vinyl. This receiver has been carefully tested and is in excellent working order. Sound output is clear and clean in both channels. The controls and switches have been cleaned and lubed for smooth and silent operation. All lights have been checked and replaced as needed. The mechanical tuning system has been lubricated for smooth and precise tuning action. The interior has been blown out with compressed air to remove dust and prevent overheating and extend component life. Up for auction is a vintage Sony STR-GX59ES AM/FM stereo receiver from Sonys Elevated Standard premium line. Tested and works and sounds great. Includes a Sony remote thats not original to this receiver but does turn the receiver off, adjusts volume, changes inputs and tunes stations that are preset- limited but useful functionality. Good cosmetic condition- the faceplate looks very good, the top has scratches. Offered AS IS. Please check the photos to judge condition. As with all AV surround sound receivers some basic knowledge on setup and how surround sound works is important. Proper setup / adjustments are essential in order to have this unit perform to your specific requirements. I strongly suggest the new owner locate and download the owners manual online. All speaker outputs, and all source inputs are working. All buttons and controls function. I do notice that when powering on using the power button on the front panel, a firm press works best.
