For sale I have a Retro BQS (Best Quality Sound) WK-8000 Personal Stereo Cassette Player which has been tested and is in full Working order and measures approximately 10cm x 11cm x 4cm. The cassette player is in overall very good clean condition with some minor wear. The battery housing is clean and the player requires two AA batteries to operate (included). The buttons all operate appropriately and the player opens manually. There is a plastic belt clip to the rear and headphones (not original) are included. Rare model from Indonesia. Judging by its styling, Id guess its from 1978-1982. Strangely, it doesnt have a radio tuner -- Maybe radio wasnt very widespread in that country. For a mono speaker its pretty large, at 18 inches wide, 12 tall. The woofer is 8 inches! It can go loud, but the sound quality is only so-so, and the build quality isnt very good either. For example the handle doesnt stay up -- it always falls down. The soft eject isnt soft anymore, if it ever was. And only 1 or 2 digits of the LED meter do anything. The tape deck works on RW and FF, but Play works only occasionally. Most of the time it plays too slow, with a warbled sound. So obviously it will need service. I couldnt get any sound from the so-called Aux jack. However I did get sound from the Mic jack when I connected it to my phone and played music. However you need to run a blank tape while youre doing that, because thats the only way to power the unit on. Theres some dents on the metal trim, and corrosion spots on the chrome handle. The body was repainted by someone with only average skills. The battery terminals are rusted, which probably explains why it doesnt work on batteries. It only works on AC.
