Description
Sony RCD-W500C CD Player/Recorder ~ Verbatim Music CD-Rs ~ Sony RM-R52 Remote (1 of 3) Ive sold many Sony RCD_W500C units on eBay: all in fantastic working condition. One shipment was badly damaged by Fedex (box CRUSHED), and customer was refunded immediately. See picture 2 for some of my recent Sony RCD_W500C feedback!! ATTENTION: If you do NOT want the Verbatim music discs or Sony remote control, I will lower my price for the RCD-W500C to $199.99. Please contact me via eBay messaging. This Sony RCD-W500C is in outstanding physical and cosmetic condition. I highly recommend that you thoroughly read this entire Description. I have worked diligently to restore this equipment for YOU! When selling electronic systems, most eBay sellers will mention tested OK, which may take as few as 5 minutes. My refurbishment process is INTENSE. When you see my eBay listing, the system has passed MONTHS of rigorous testing of all components within Decks A and B, system features, onboard buttons, remote control buttons, eject functionality, AMS performance, display, recording, playback, Digital and Analog in/out ports, etc, so that you, the buyer, are 100% pleased. A 25-pack of new/sealed Verbatim (brand) MUSIC Recordable CDs is included! I have never had an issue recording on my refurbished Sony RCD-W500C units while using these Verbatim CD-Rs. As stated in the system documentation, the Sony RCD-W500C will typically tolerate light scratches and smudges during PLAYBACK; however, the RECORDING process is much more complex, and therefore demands that the CD in Deck A be CLEAN, SMUDGE-FREE, SCRATCH-FREE, and WARP-FREE - particularly if using the “HIGH SYNCHRO” recording option. Failure to follow these recommendations may trigger C13 or C14 error codes (recording FAILURE). A summary of this units refurbishment:New rubber belts (imported from the UK) have been installed in both Deck A and B. In my opinion, best belts on the planet. The top cover has been re-finished with multiple coats of high quality Textured Black Matte Behr enamel spray paint - a month-long process! All dust has been blown out of the RCD-W500C cabinet.Decks A and B have been 100% disassembled, and all mechanical parts have been thoroughly examined for wear and tear. Any damaged or under-performing part has been replaced - then re-tested. Moving parts (rods) have been lubricated with Permatex white lithium grease (if needed). Ribbon cables inspected, and replaced if damaged. Spindle has been tested for speed, wobble, and “grip” performance. The Deck A Laser Head gear has been thoroughly examined; REPLACED if worn or cracked (a very common point of failure).Voltages are within tolerance range on the system board. The Analog IN/OUT ports and Digital TOSLINK IN/OUT have been used regularly, and work perfectly. This unit has been used in my home for three months plus (to assure perfect functionality).Headphone jack and volume control - perfect! The laser lens in Decks A & B have been thoroughly cleaned using medical grade cotton and isopropyl alcohol. I recommend to avoid using CDRW (writable/erasable) discs on all Sony RCD-W500C units. Since this product was released in 2002/2003, the internet has been flooded with complaints regarding the use of CDRW discs. Apparently no single CDRW manufacturer has achieved consistent Deck B write/erase results, including the Sony branded CDRW discs. Even when these Sony RCD-W500C units were first released, there are documented reports that many users/owners experienced these CDRW issues. Sonys responses to the CDRW complaints were reportedly not helpful, as many owners followed Sonys recommendations, only to continue the negative CDRW experience. Based on this well-documented history, if CDRW discs fail to perform on my refurbished RCD-W500C units, unfortunately I have no resolution for this pre-existing, well-documented issue; therefore, my recommendation is to AVOID using CDRW discs! I promote the use of Verbatim MUSIC CD-R (recordable, writable) discs! I have compared the performance of many different brands of CD-R discs, including Sony brand. Amazingly, Verbatim “music” CD-Rs are the clear winner! I have 30+ years of expertise working with software, electric/electronic technologies, and mechanical hardware. I have successfully refurbished hundreds of audio/video systems. This eBay listing is a rare opportunity to own an awesome high-performance Sony RCD-W500C machine, and RETURN it within 14 days if you are not satisfied with the units performance. Please contact me immediately via eBay messaging if your shipping box is damaged, or in the unlikely event that you experience a performance issue with the RCD-W500C. I highly recommend that the Sony RCD-W500C be provided some time to warm to room temperature after unpacking the shipment before attempting to use it. For your answers to technical/usability questions, I will include the Operating Instructions/User Manual [Sony Document number 4-246-076-14(1)], and the Service Manual on DVD. You are also welcome to contact me via eBays messaging system. Before you make your FIRST ATTEMPT to copy music CDs (record from Deck A to Deck B), I highly recommend that you consult the Sony Operating Instructions. The procedure is actually VERY SIMPLE, but the first attempt typically requires following the manuals printed instructions! Ready for Immediate Musical Pleasure!
