This classic and very desirable mid end audiophile turntable is in good operating condition. The unit is cosmetically outstanding with the only faults being some very small marks to the dust-cove, but is consistent with a 20+ year old Hi Fi component and you must look close to see them. The plinth is in great condition and all the bright work on the table and tonearm are in outstanding unmarked condition. This turntable has been re-lubed and/or re-greased where necessary, and a new turntable belt has been installed. This unit has been cleaned, adjusted, tested, and fully detailed! Regardless how good the turntable, it still needs a quality Phono cartridge to extract and deliver the high quality sound from the vinyl. This is an area most neglect! A turntable will only sound as good as its cartridge. So, this unit has been matched with a high quality SONY 4211-D6 Phono Stylus. Listening to this unit is absolutely a dream. Sonically, the SONY PS-LX250 is very impressive, sounding better than any CD, giving you that wonderful analog sound that CD’s have been trying to duplicate but cannot. Also comes with a printed copy of the instruction manual, dustcover, 45 record adapter, black rubber mat, phono cords, and power cord. TURNTABLE DESCRIPTION: DC Servo – Controlled Motor - The motor in the PS-LX250 turntable combines high elements with a FG (frequency generator) servo-controlled DC motor with IC. The high elements, production engineered by Technics, are used to switch the polarity in the motor. Since purely electronic communication is used for switching the motor drive circuit, harmful noise is not generated, and smooth, even rotation can be obtained with high durability. By combining precision characteristics of Rumble at -70 db, and 0.045% wow and flutter have been allowed The Highly Sensitive Straight – Shaped Tonearm - Highly sensitive angular contact bearings are used for both vertical and horizontal-axis movement of the tonearm, so that there is minimum play and friction. High sensitivity and durability are obtained. Both an anti-skating mechanism and a lateral balance adjustment are built in, therefore, even when a low tracking force, high compliance cartridge is used, the unit turns in an excellent tracking performance. An independent tonearm lift device is incorporated in the semi-automatic mechanism, the stylus can be raised easily even during playing without damage to the stylus or record. Panel Layout Facilitates Easy Operation - This layout places the function buttons, record size selector, and arm lift lever all at the front of the unit, concentrating controls for easy operation. The dust cover uses free-stop fastener hinges. Cabinet Design for Sound Quality - The power source transformer and operating mechanisms are all mounted in the solidly built cabinet, while the platter and tonearm are kept floating above the cabinet by the floating suspension, contributing to the improvement of the tone quality. External vibrations are doubly damped by the insulators to obtain a very high resistance against acoustic feedback [“howling”]. Medium priced, it incorporates state of the art cartridge technologies; including a magnetic circuit with centre shield, low mass dual magnet stylus assembly using alinco magnets etc. It offers unprecedented flat frequency response and outstanding sound clarity and definition. The body is made from a rigid high-density structure, which ensures that the superior basic performance remains unaffected by harmful resonance. The SONY 4211-D6 integrates the range of the sonic bandwidth very well: no part of the spectrum sticks out at the listener. It doesn’t sound bright and it doesn’t sound dull at the top frequencies. The 4211-D6 is a warm & mellow sounding cartridge – very dynamic – separation is most excellent - nice tight natural sounding bass [not boomy at all] – Highs are very crisp yet never sounding metallic or artificial. The sound stage is really where this cartridge shines. While listening with one’s eyes closed, you actually hear not only stereo but a distinct three dimensional sound stage where the musicians and singers are positioned as in a concert. The sound quality of this cartridge is absolutely great. The SONY 4211-D6 Phono cartridge is a wonderful representation of one of SONY’S cartridges. The 4211-D6 is best known for its excellent musicality, outstanding value, high technology, and reasonable price. The SONY 4211-D6 Phono cartridge uses a highly polished special conical stylus to very accurately extract record groove information with a minimum of wear. SONY’S uses a thin-wall alloy tube cantilever (the hollow rod that extends from the cartridge to the diamond tip), for low mass and low resonance. The SONY 4211-D6 Phono cartridge reproduces a wide, extended frequency response with low distortion. It also offers excellent tracking at 2.5 – 3.5 grams, saving your LPs from undue wear.
