There are some scuffs and scratches to the main housing, mostly on the top of the unit. The DVD player comes with the original working OEM Sony remote control that came with the unit. It also includes a set of component video cables. See pictures for details.

It was from an early production run which included two internal switches (removed from May 1997 onward), one to disable DVD region enforcement and one to disable the analog MacroVision copy protection in the video output. Both of those switches are currently set to disable those behaviors. Note that disabling DVD region enforcement doesnt enable the player to play all non-region-1 DVDs; it only supports DVDs with NTSC-format video (such as from Japan and Hong Kong), and some DVD titles include additional region enforcement logic, such as by checking the players region. I am the original owner. I purchased this player in August 1997 from Cambridge SoundWorks in Newton, MA. I used it regularly from 1997-2006, but it has had only infrequent use since 2006. I used it mostly to play DVDs, and it uses a separate laser for CD playback, so the CD-dedicated laser has seen little use overall. I recently tested both DVD and CD playback successfully, including playing an NTSC region 3 DVD. Auction includes the player (with power cord), the original remote, box and interior packaging, and documentation. It does not include any cables that might have originally came with the unit, nor does it include the set of DVDs that were bundled as a promotion.
