Hi, and thanks for looking at my auction! Up on the block is a mostly very defective Sony STR-DA777ES. If youve found this listing, you know what a behemoth this was two decades ago. Maybe you have more time than I do and want to strip this for parts or something; what I can tell you is this- it powers up (so transformer, power board, digital board are ok!). It accepts digital audio signals and you can see that it recognizes the bitstream. However, NO AUDIO is produced; I think theres something very unhappy on the amp board, but I have no time to diagnose so granularly. I cannot say whether the actual amp transistors (NEN 250 and NEP 250) are operational, but I *can* say that the unit does NOT go into PROTECTOR mode upon power up. Also the faceplate panel is very much falling off; its not just the usual belt problem; the hinge shaft is sheared on one side. Id love for someone to take this off my hands instead of just taking it to e-waste, so one last ditch effort- best case scenario, someone in the New York metro area wants to buy it; shipping this thing- especially in its condition- is barely worth it.
