For sale is the highly regarded top-loading Sony CDP-X5000, which used the fixed pickup optical mechanism for which Sony was known at the height of its CD prowess. It is a beautiful aluminum player with excellent functionality as a transport (with AES/EBU, coaxial, and optical digital outputs). This unit is perfectly functional--reads every disc I have in seconds, and has never had any issues with skipping--and a pleasure to use. And it sounds great.I have always used it as a transport with an external DAC, but I also think the internal DAC sounds remarkably good for its time.Cosmetically in very good condition. I dont see any scratches of note. There is, however, a slight dent in the lower right-hand corner of the front panel. Its not particularly noticeable but something to be aware of--see photos.Original remote, brass disc stabilizer, and power cable included. This is the 100V Japan model, so its best to use it in the US with a step-down transformer. I can include one for $50.Local pickup in New Haven, CT, welcome, but I am also happy to ship with careful packaging and full insurance.
