And when you tap the side, it comes back on sometimes. It might be wire loose inside, but I'm not sure. The power button seems to not do anything. The unit is always powered on and lit up inside. This is a Sony CDP x111es CD Player from 1991 (no remote)It is in excellent cosmetic and working condition.I received this unit in non-working condition. All it needed was a new belt for the tray. I also checked and tweaked the laser focus. The laser RF patter is clear/open and strong (at about 1v p-p, which is within original spec).I also removed the old grease from the mechanism and re-lubed. This player will play all stamped CDs (obviously); and will play good-quality CD-Rs. However, it will not read low-quality/budget CD-Rs (as a lot of 90s players will not...as they have terrible reflectivity).It does NOT have a remote.I do not have the original box; but the unit will be well packaged for shipping (as all my items are)
