Offered here is a mint like new top of the line Sony Elevated Standard CD player, the X77ES.It comes with everything, the original box with packing materials, remote, and operators manual.Also included are numerous reviews of the CD player. You will not find one in better condition withso little use! This is being sold by a CD player collector and would be great for anyone especiallycollectors! The original owner was from Bethesda, MD. He was a computer technology consultant.The Sony CDP 77ES came from a non smoking, no pets, no kids home. This was the flagship model for a year or two. It was not bought new until the LATE 1990s-owner said it may even have been as late as 2002.? It was used a fair amount, but only for 3-5 years. It was packed away in 2005, and was not used again till 2019. The current owner had a very large collection of CD players used in rotation. Hence, this CD player has had very little use since new! The optical and digital connections are great for use with a DAC.? Needless to say it sounds wonderfulas good if not better than the earlier SONY CDP 707ESD. There are no scratches at all and wood sides are perfect. It is in literally mint like new condition.See photos! The CD player was taken to Sound World of Appleton in October of 2019. The unit was cleaned, lubricated, and operations were all inspected. The loading drive belt was replaced. Chassis grounds were tightened. Laser was checked and was perfect and tracking was perfect as well. Unbalanced fixed and variable outputs are provided (the latter not controllable from the remote, but via a front-panel potentiometer—which also controls the headphone output), as are balanced outputs. Coaxial and optical digital outputs are also found on the rear panel. The CDP-X77ES has a solid, substantial feel and look which seem more than skin deep. Everything about its physical appearance and feel says expensive in no uncertain terms, from its gloriously smooth and quiet drawer action to the feel of its controls. (The only tacky touch was the artificial wood-grain over particle-board end caps—though the grain and finish were first-rate.) The action was smooth and silent. The Inside Story?: The external visible quality of the Sony continues with its internal appearance. The case is jammed full of multi-layered, multi-sided boards with good-quality parts visible throughout. The two large transformers are located well away from the rest of the circuitry. Two other small transformers near the balanced outputs clearly are used to drive the latter. The weight of the X77 is reflected in whats inside. Sound Quality: ?The first CD player I owned was Sonys original CDP 101. That machine took a lot of heat in audiophile circles for its sound quality—much of it justified, if my experience was at all typical. But there were a lot of things that player manufacturers still had to learn in 1983. They havent been standing still, least of all Sony. Their latest single-box flagship—the CDP-X77ES—is a convincing demonstration of their progress. The X77 was the most vibrant, luscious-sounding player of the five models I reviewed this month. (The others were the CAL Aria Mk. III, NAD 5000, Mod Squad Prism, and Philips LHH500.) Vocal and instrumental timbres were rich, full, and fluid. Perspectives were just a bit on the forward side, enough to give the sound an appealing thereness without jumping into your lap. Textures were smooth and grainless. It was working perfectly couple of months ago as seen in video something happened to it in transportation causing it to stop reading cd anymore. It power up just fine but the cd does not spin.
