Der Motor läuft sehr leise, und die Klangqualität entspricht dem Niveau höchstwertiger CD-Spieler. Ein besonderer Bedienungskomfort stellt das Shuttle-Suchlaufrad dar. Damit kann der Titelsuchlauf stufenlos von ganz schnell bis ganz langsam gesteuert werden. Hervorzuheben ist der u. a. für die Aufnahme von CDs wichtige abschaltbare Kopierschutz (SCMS) sowie die Möglichkeit, auch Analog auch mit 44,1 kHz aufnehmen zu können. Meine aktuelle Überprüfung zeigt, dass dieses Gerät in allen Arbeitsbereichen (PLAY, REC, Umspulen, Suchlauf) ausgezeichnet funktioniert; auch der äußere Zustand ist als sehr gut zu bezeichnen. Vor zwei Monaten wurde das SV-3800 von einem sachkundigen DAT-Fachmann überprüft und revidiert. Die Elektronik erwies sich als einwandfrei.
