ESTATE SALE. Assisting with the sale of audiophile components for a friend. This listing is for a Sonic Frontiers Line 3 Tube Preamplifier Special Edition with the gold face finish. This is a two piece unit which is the preamp and separate power supply. This is considered Sonic Frontiers flagship model and at the top in the audiophile world. This Sonic Frontiers Line 3 Tube Preamplifier Special Edition offers exceptional sound quality and is perfect for audiophiles who want to elevate their home audio experience. With its elegant gold color and unique design, this preamp is sure to impress. Sonic Frontiers is known for producing high-end audio equipment. This two piece unit will be boxed separately in original Sonic Frontiers boxes but without the original packing materials. There is no remote, manual, cables or cords. You obviously get the power cord attached to the power supply which attaches to the preamp. You only get the preamp and power supply boxed properly for safe shipping. This preamp and power supply were disassembled from a working audiophile system. The fotos are mine showing the preamp and power supply powered up properly prior to packing. MSRP was $6000. Shipping fee is double of what appears. There are two boxes that are 24x24x10 and one weighs 40 lbs and the other 30 lbs. I am not able to list two boxes for shipping, so what ever your shipping fee is, please note to double that for both boxes. Thank you for viewing my listing. UPDATE: Please note that the cover on both the preamp and power supply are missing screws that were misplaced when the tubes were changed and the power supply was checked. I did not take a picture of the insides (remove the cover) because these are not my components and I know they operate properly. They are already boxed for shipping so it would be a pain to unbox them for a picture. I can say the preamp has 12 tubes which is twice as many as my McIntosh C2500 preamp has (6) and it sounds truly audiophile. Any research of this preamp will prove that. And for the missing screws, taking one of them to an ACE hardware store should be an easy fix to obtain them. I hope this is not a deal breaker. Thanks again for viewing my listing. This is a very rare and originally very expensive CD player made in the late 1990s. It was revolutionary at the time for its design and innovative features and still has a stellar reputation. Unfortunately, this unit has a couple of issues that need to be resolved by the next owner. First, the CD tray has a slight catch when closing. It catches about 1 inch from being fully closed. A slight push and it clears and closes completely and is ready to play. This is probably just a minor mechanical correction that needs to be done on the transport. The other issue Involves distortion in the right channel. The left channel sounds clear and smooth, but the right channel has some distortion. I don’t think this is in the tubes that I used (please note that no tubes are included with this purchase). You are buying the CD player as shown with no tubes. Audiophiles spend considerable money having this CD player refurbished and updated. It is certainly worth the effort. Being sold completely as is and priced accordingly for the issues described. In fully working condition, this is one of the finest CD players ever made. Please check the Internet for reviews from all the major audio publications at the time. It was considered a true breakthrough in CD technology. Will be very carefully packed for safe shipping. Thanks and enjoy. There is an extensive 2005 review of the CD player on stereo file.com. This was the concluding statement of the review: “The SFCD-1 is a perfect example of just how much performance $3500 will get you. In fact, I can recommend the SFCD-1 for even the most demanding high-end systems.” More comments: The Sonic Frontiers SFCD-1 was produced from 1995 till 2005. It's probably one of the most musical sounding CD players ever made at any price, even by today's standards! One listening an you'll fall in love with it's charms. By today's standard noise floor & resolution would be it's Achilles' heels, but it's golden colored tonality, rhythm & pace, sheer musicality will get you hooked.
