This auction is for a set of 5 speakers from Snell Acoustics. It is for LOCAL PICKUP ONLY in San Diego County, zip code 92007. The speakers included are the following: Qty 2 - Snell THX SUB550 subwoofers. This is a passive speaker with a single 12 driver in a sealed enclosure. They are both in good working and cosmetic condition. Qty 2 - Snell THX Type K/IV stereo speakers. This speaker has a 1 dome tweeter and a 7 midrange/bass driver. The foam surrounds on both speakers will need to be replaced. Cosmetically they are in good condition. Qty 1 - Snell THX CC1 center channel speaker. This is a horizontally oriented speaker with a single 1 dome tweeter and two 51/4 midrange drivers. This speaker is in good working and cosmetic condition. If you are interested in bidding but are not local, you are welcome to use a 3rd party to pick them up and ship them to you, however you will need to coordinate that on your own. These are complete speaker parts removed from a pair of Snell Type K/II speakers. Sales includes all parts but the Cabinets. Includes the two woofers, two tweeters and the crossovers. All were tested and working fine before removal and tested as well after removal. The two woofers will need the surround foam on the speakers replaced. The surround foam deteriorated and broke down with age. The speaker cabinets shown in pictures are not part of the sale, those are just for illustrations/ display, will not ship the cabinets. Item will be well packed and ship for $25.00 anywhere in the continental USA.

Snell Type K Original speaker stands. My uncle was friends with the first carpenter at Snell Acoustics. He may have made these speaker stands. They came from Type K originals SN #6673 and they have flathead screws so they appear to be original to the time period. Theyre great for positioning Type K or J speakers on the floor or on a console at the perfect angle. I have multiple sets of larger Snell speakers and dont have a use for these stands. They look to be made of plywood and they are solid. They could use a fresh coat of paint or be used as they are. They measure about 7 wide, 14 deep and 17 tall. This listing is for the stands only.

Snell ICS 1050cr. This is a audiophile center channel or LCR speaker from Snell. It includes 6.5 inch peerless drivers with an aluminum cone tweeter that can swivel to point up/down/left/right. You simply unscrew the four screws around the tweeter and turn it. This speaker is extremely heavy for its size. There are many imperfections to the cabinet. One side especially. There are even a few spots where the previous owner tried to touch it up. The drivers are in perfect condition. The grill is in good shape. All of the pins are intact with on snags or holes. The Snell logo on the grill can between twisted so if you use the speakers standing on its end the snell logo is configured correctly. There are no returns on this item at all. It will be packed well. I have a separate listing for two other speakers identical to this one. They are in much better shape. If you want to do a true left/center/right.

High end, high resolution audiophile speakers, each floor standing cabinet (left and right) consists of an upper midrange/trebel speaker system that sits atop the subwoofer system below. total dimensions of each speaker, including top and bottom cabinets is 13D, 24 wide, and 48 tall. These speakers are fully functional and sound great. However, if you further wanted to maintain the performance of the speakers in the future, you might consider re-coning the wofers in the lower units as i have been using (but never abusing) them for 10 years, hooked up to tube electronics. I would keep them but i just dont have room in my new living quarters which i am moving to for such large floorstanding speakers. They can create truly concert hall sound. Includes combining cables to hook between top and lower cabinets and internal crossover electronics. Without the interconnecting cables, The speakes can also be bi-amped. Cannot ship as i dont have transportation to take these speakers to greyhound and the cost of shipping these speakers is double the price i am asking, so LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. The are packed in cardboard boxes which are sufficient for local moves only. The cabinets are exotic brazilian forest wood with very few blemishes.

We are very proud to offer the virtually impossible to find Snell Acoustics LCR 500 and HCC 500, the very first THX certified speaker system in the world. These were designed by Kevin Voecks, then of Snell, now of Revel, and were the very first THX certified speakers to be offered to consumers. Incidentally, they also happen to sound fantastic as a stereo pair, or as the mains in a front L/C/R set-up. The LCR 500 home theater speakers we are offering sold new for $2700.00 (+/- $5400 in todays dollars). The previous owner bought these when he was building his top of the line home theater. He spent more than $60,000 to complete his theater in the mid 1990s (adjusted for inflation that would be over $100,000 today). They more than hold their own today as some of the best speakers available for home theater. As most know, THX was founded by George Lucas. When he came to realize that his movies were being played at theaters with poor audio quality, he decided to do something about it. He released THX certification for commercial cinemas the same year he released Return of the Jedi. After that, THX grew to become the movie standard around the world, and THX certification held a lot of weight. THX-certified surround sound systems had to be capable of sustaining 85 dB over the entire movie, as well as being capable of hitting peaks of up to 105 dB, all while maintaining very low distortion. The speakers also need to be able to disperse sound very precisely. The THX certification that these speakers bear tells you that the Snell LCR 500 are capable of all of this. The LCR 500 are a 2-Way design with two 6.5 woofers and two tweeters. The dual woofer design allows these speakers to handle the bottom of the audio range without any distortion. The dual woofer design also adds to maximum output capabilities of these speakers. The tweeters are lined up very specifically so that you will have perfect sound dispersion when listening. The HCC 500 center channel is identical to the LCR 500, other than the fact that the tweeters are rotated. It is extremely important to have the tweeters stacked horizontally in order to achieve proper sound reproduction. The tweeters are distanced very precisely so that you do not have sound wave cancellation. Also, these speakers all have the original felt absorption panels surrounding the tweeters to absorb the sound waves that otherwise would refract off of the front baffle of the speakers. The tweeters also have an adjustable potentiometer on the rear so you can adjust the high frequency level to complement your listening environment acoustic properties. In addition to this, there is a 2A 250v fuse to protect the tweeters from any damage. The cabinets are rock solid, weighing in at 25lbs per speaker. There is no question about the quality construction of these speakers. All of this engineering went into these speakers to ensure that they project sound according to George Lucas original THX standards. These particular speakers are in excellent condition. All of them include the grills. The tweeters and woofers all work perfectly. The cabinets are in excellent condition. As previously mentioned, the felt tweeter absorption panels are all perfectly intact and are very clean. The potentiometers for the tweeters have all been recently cleaned with Deoxit and the 2 amp, 250 volt fuses for the tweeters are all in perfect condition, having never been blown. There are two listening modes for these speakers, which is the reason for the four gold-plated binding posts on the rear. One pair is to be used for Normal Operation and one pair for Compensated operation. The Compensated operation allows you to compensate for something such as placing these speakers behind an acoustically transparent screen or directly against your wall. We are separately listing the matching subwoofers and will entertain bundled offers for the entire set. These are in excellent cosmetic and operating condition and priced to sell. We are very proud to offer the virtually impossible to find Snell Acoustics LCR 500 and HCC 500, the very first THX certified speaker system in the world. These were designed by Kevin Voecks, then of Snell, now of Revel, and were the very first THX certified speakers to be offered to consumers. Incidentally, they also happen to sound fantastic as a stereo pair, or as the mains in a front L/C/R set-up. The LCR 500 home theater speakers we are offering sold new for $2700.00 (+/- $5400 in todays dollars). The previous owner bought these when he was building his top of the line home theater. He spent more than $60,000 to complete his theater in the mid 1990s (adjusted for inflation that would be over $100,000 today). They more than hold their own today as some of the best speakers available for home theater. As most know, THX was founded by George Lucas. When he came to realize that his movies were being played at theaters with poor audio quality, he decided to do something about it. He released THX certification for commercial cinemas the same year he released Return of the Jedi. After that, THX grew to become the movie standard around the world, and THX certification held a lot of weight. THX-certified surround sound systems had to be capable of sustaining 85 dB over the entire movie, as well as being capable of hitting peaks of up to 105 dB, all while maintaining very low distortion. The speakers also need to be able to disperse sound very precisely. The THX certification that these speakers bear tells you that the Snell LCR 500 are capable of all of this. The LCR 500 are a 2-Way design with two 6.5 woofers and two tweeters. The dual woofer design allows these speakers to handle the bottom of the audio range without any distortion. The dual woofer design also adds to maximum output capabilities of these speakers. The tweeters are lined up very specifically so that you will have perfect sound dispersion when listening. The HCC 500 center channel is identical to the LCR 500, other than the fact that the tweeters are rotated. It is extremely important to have the tweeters stacked horizontally in order to achieve proper sound reproduction. The tweeters are distanced very precisely so that you do not have sound wave cancellation. Also, these speakers all have the original felt absorption panels surrounding the tweeters to absorb the sound waves that otherwise would refract off of the front baffle of the speakers. The tweeters also have an adjustable potentiometer on the rear so you can adjust the high frequency level to complement your listening environment acoustic properties. In addition to this, there is a 2A 250v fuse to protect the tweeters from any damage. The cabinets are rock solid, weighing in at 25lbs per speaker. There is no question about the quality construction of these speakers. All of this engineering went into these speakers to ensure that they project sound according to George Lucas original THX standards. These particular speakers are in excellent condition. All of them include the grills. The tweeters and woofers all work perfectly. The cabinets are in excellent condition. As previously mentioned, the felt tweeter absorption panels are all perfectly intact and are very clean. The potentiometers for the tweeters have all been recently cleaned with Deoxit and the 2 amp, 250 volt fuses for the tweeters are all in perfect condition, having never been blown. There are two listening modes for these speakers, which is the reason for the four gold-plated binding posts on the rear.
