SME 3012 Series I, first-generation version, with its original box, inside packing materials and 8-page manual. This arm is a beauty, with hardly any blemishes except for a ding on the bedplate (see Photo 7). All parts on this arm are original, including the two hexagon wrenches and the black ribbon for tying the armtube to the armlift. The only exception is the coupling rubber which has been replaced to fix the sagging problem of the end stub. The connection cable sockets have been changed to RCA connectors, although the original male and female sockets and the silver shielding can (plus the two side-catches for securing the shielding can on the underside) have been kept and the new owner can change them back if so wishes. One lug of the female socket has broken off (see photo 6), but the socket still works fine. This arm works flawlessly; however, the tonearm lift no longer has any hydraulic action, as is inevitably the case with all vintage Series I tonearms. This is the very first generation of the SME 3012 Series I, which head shell socket has two slits and it CANNOT be rotated (see Photo 5). (The second generation SME 3012 Series I has a rotatable socket with four slits, making it compatible with cartridges with diamond-shape pins, but at the same time it comprises the structure of the tonearm to an extent.) This is a massively overbuilt tonearm, perfect for partnering with high mass low compliance cartridges such as the SPU. SME 3009 Series II Improved tonearm original boxed. This is a nice example complete with original box, templates and manuals. It has the fixed headshell armtube (for some reason the box says detachable but this is incorrect). The arm is in lovely cosmetic condition with gleaming arm tube and clean body. It works perfectly and sounds great. This is a particularly desirable example being original boxed and also being a very early example of the new improved 3009 series II design. This means that it has a metal knife edge bearing like early series II (non improved) arms had which is popular with many SME fans. We can ship worldwide with care.
