This has seen very little use over the years and as such is in superb shape with all original cables, headshell, counterweight, and extra bias weight. I’m including a low use Ortofon SL15 moving coil cartridge that sounds fantastic with arm. I will pack this super well for a safe transit. I have years of packing fragile high end audio components.

Extremely rare, Very early SME 3009 Series 1 Tonearm . Dates to 1959 based on the console it was removed from.Condition-wise it is very nice for its age. It will need restoration prior to use. These first production tone-arms have no serial numbers, only “Made In England” stamped on the bottom plate. The rubber coupling in the tonearm is deteriorating and must be replaced as the arm sags where the two pieces connect. The metal armtube is in great condition. There is no damage to any of the metal other than some light oxidation to the edges, the acorn nuts and thin metal bias hanger. These should clean up nicely with some attention. The rubber mounting grommets to the base will need replacement. Two weights are missing; the small counterweight attached with fishing line and the other larger side counterweight that hangs on the opposite side arm.Comes with a detachable Shure SME headshell and Shure V15 Type ii cartridge. The Shure Supertrack stylus comes with but “as is” and untested, it appears to be in good condition.Original SME catalogue includedSold as is in as found condition. Thorens TD 125 mk 11 Turntable with SME 3009 Series 11 Non Improved arm. The combination of this legendary Thorens turntable and this iconic SME arm is universally accepted as the perfect match. In addition the arm has a detachable head shell with a Shure V15 Type 11 cartridge. The turntable is in near perfect cosmetic condition with a wonderfully clear Perspex cover. There is a very tiny dent to the veneer at the front left corner which could easily be repaired. Please see photo. There is a barely audible tick as the platter rotates and the turntable would benefit from a service. Otherwise it is in perfect working order. This beautifully engineered piece of vintage stereo equipment was the property of my late stepfather and has been lovingly cared for. I would not trust any Carrier with it, so collection only.
