Though there have been several gold special editions of the SL-1200 released over the years, this SL-1200 LTD, launched in 1996, is the very first of these gold commemorative versions. This model was specifically planned to mark the 25th anniversary of the original SL-1200 model, which was introduced in 1972. To celebrate this milestone, only 5,000 units (some reports suggest as many as 10,000) were released. Given that these are brand new, unopened units with serial numbers 007 and 008, you can imagine the exceptional value that these two turntables hold.
