AUDIO TECHNICA SIGNET TK7E CARTRIDGE AND TKN15 TITANIUM RARE NUDE SHIBATA STYLUS This auction is for one of the top-of-the-line moving magnet cartridges of all time. Handmade by Signet, the upper echelon division of Audio Technica. This one has the upgraded Number 15 stylus, one of many available back in 1977 from the AT dealers. Stylus 15 is a Titanium Cantilever with a Miniature Nude Square Shibata cut diamond. I have included some microscope photos of the diamond, and as you can see it is sharp and has a lot of life in it. As you can see in the video this stylus tracks exactly as it should and even tracked a record with a bit of warp with no problem. I installed it on my Thorens TP50 tonearm and played a few records. It did not disappoint; the sound is full and rich, and the cartridge tracks very nicely at the midway of the recommended weight range, 1.25 grams. A side note on this cartridge. I had read that the Audio Technica ATN12S stylus was a fit for this and I can confirm that. I had an OEM AT12S in the drawer and it slid on and worked very nicely. So this cartridge is in no way a dead end as far as stylus options. AT OEM, Jico and other aftermarket sellers give you several options for the future.
