This is a very gently pre-owned and very lightly used, if at all, premium-quality stylus force gauge from SHURE.  This is the PRECISION STYLUS FORCE GAUGE, Model SFG-2.  The manufacturer says “Be Shure your turntable is on the right track. Did you know that dialing in the proper tracking force for your turntable's phono cartridge is crucial for optimum playback? Too little force, and the stylus won't seat properly in the grooves, potentially causing skipping (or mistracking), and increased wear to your stylus and precious vinyl LPs. Too much force, and you'll over-compress your cartridge's internal suspension mechanism, causing its internal signal generating assembly to become misaligned and resulting in a loss of performance. Unfortunately, the traditional method of calibrating your 'table's tracking force — floating the tonearm, then twisting the counterweight to the desired setting — can actually be inaccurate by a wide margin. Shure SFG-2 Stylus Force Gauge Includes original packaging, excellent condition. A small crease to the packaging cover flap but that was all I noted. Measures from 0.5 to 3 grams of force. Ive moved into the world of vintage Ortofon SPUs which grind into your LPs at 4+ grams of force so I have bought a different guage and I am downsizing and cant justify keeping two guages. But this is a very cool and period correct gauge for modern styli. I am still selling a few of pieces of hi fi as part of this downsizing so please see my other auctions.
