You simply plug this into any outlet connected to your A/V circuit and it protects that circuit from surge damage. It could be the extra wall outlet or an extra power strip outlet. The Shunyata XC power cables eschew noise reduction features of their more expensive cables in favor of enhanced dynamic transient current delivery capability to maximize the performance of power conditioners and high-power amplifiers.
