Welcome to my Auction.... You are bidding for my much loved and treasured Sennheiser HD800 Headphones. In outstanding condition This stunning pair of 300 Ohm headphones are an open back design with 56mm diaphragm stainless steel transducers that are angled to the ear and to me, are more like listening to a pair of HI End Speakers on your head as opposed to a pair of headphones. For the price these units are likely to sell for, believe me, they will be a HI END HIFI AUDIOPHILE BARGIN as there are a HUGE amount of accessories also included in this listing!!!!! They have a solid metal/plastic construction which is built to last. They have a beautiful Metallic Silver Paint job to compliment the Black velour material used throughout their design. As expected from a high end pair of Headphones, they are exceptionally comfortable with plenty of space around even the largest of ears... One can easily wear these units for hours without tiring and they do not draw attention to themselves. They are fully adjustable (easily accommodating Gollums Head) and there are two tilt and pivot hinge points on each ear cup to ensure a tight flexible snug and comfortable fit. As far as performance goes....In a word, they are Absolutely Stunning...they look as stunning as they sound....especially when paired with the complimenting and capable equipment such as a DAC (also included). These Headphone a fully upgradable as they use a duel twist pin connector on eachear cup. The cable can thus be unplugged and upgraded to a whole variety of HI End cables from Balanced left and right £1000 variations to 925 Sterling Silver interconnect style terminations. These upgrades again will only be warranted depending on your partnering equipment, but as always upgrade with your ears and not your wallet. Even the Ear cup cusions and head band can be upgraded to after market alternatives (Leather/Velvet )if you have the budget. The more sugar one puts on anything...the sweeter it may be....? Perhaps Condition I have owned these high end units from Brand New and have only used them on the weekends and this shows in their condition. Obviously I have had them for a while now and naturally there will now be signs of use (I have had a close inspection and found nothing, but I didn’t exactly use a magnifying glass) but I would say, that they are in outstanding condition, not quite MINT but certainly not far off. (9.5/10) These units definitely don’t have chipped paint, and corners scuffed and worn like every other unit I have seen on Ebay. When you receive these and once you have swapped out the replacement parts that I have included, you will not be far from a Brand New item experience. No dust, no grubby marks, no scratches, no odours, no hairs or any second hand signs and certainly no Audible distortion. Even the included connection cables/adaptors are near Brand New.(The replacement 3m cable in-fact, is actually sealed and Brand new and Genuine Sennheiser HD800 replacement cord) The drivers are spotless and dent less, the metal work and plastic is clean dent and scratch free....the edges are crisp (only one half mm nick on the edge). NOTE: The ear cups are old now, but I have two Brand New pairs included (4 cups in total)with the same beautiful Velvet type velour. The head band is worn out also and flaking, but again, I have a Brand new piece included. Both these items are an exact replacement with the same hi quality velvet valour and it is a perfect fitment (when I tested it upon its purchase). The 3m Wire is also now damaged, but again, I have included a Brand new Genuine 3m Sennheiser cable - the only difference is the new cable has a black Metal plug, and not Silver, but they are all Genuine Sennheiser parts. I have included the old wire as to someone- the metal plugs are worth something. I really don’t think there is another pair out there in better condition - please have a close look at the images as they speak for themselves, and I am sure you will be able to judge for yourselves. The Driver condition is perfect with no distortion and there is certainly no blown drivers. Play them as loud as your ears can handle but make sure you switch the DAC Power Gain to 12DB from 6. So also included is.....a Headphone DAC....a GREAT one......fully loaded infact.....good enough to use with my £4000 Denon X8500 Processor....( The purpose of comparison isn’t for show...its is to demonstrate how flexible this Baby DAC is.....please remember, this is a £150 Dac, Not a £3000 DAC which is actually what you need to achieve hi fidelity to compliment these headphones)..... The Fiio E17 ALPEN DAC is in very very good condition, still has a screen sticker protector in place (with a spare in the original box as well as all accessories) and has an amazing set of features... - Solid CAST steel in Black.Very heavy and Robust in feel...definitely not aluminium. - Oled Screen, which is bright and clear in sunlight. (YES...I once took this setup out on the train..... Dont do that.....EVER....) - Mini Asynchronous USB input (for connecting from you PC USB. - Is an Asynchronous DAC so it will call files from your PC & then decide on up-scaling them - When plugged into PC, is recognised as a Sound Card automatically.(beyond my knowledge) - Accepts files upto 24-bit/96Khz and excel at presenting Flac Music Files (esp Superman II) - If using 24-bit/192kHz Files, then youll need to use the units dedicated Digital input, using a coaxial cable and the supplied adaptor. - If using Optical input then Bandwidth limited to 96kHz (many QED optical cables included) - With this DAC/Portable amplifier, you can take the feed from another source such as a CD player and use the Fiios internal DAC before passing the music into an amplifier or straight into a pair of Active Speakers. - There is plenty of literature available on line on how best to use this massively featured DAC. - There is also a 3.5mm Jack so one can plug into a Smartphone or Mp3 player and use the Fiio as a basic headphone amp. - There is Treble, Bass and Balance control (+/-10DB on all 3) which makes a huge difference - Most importantly, this unit has an Amplifier Power Gain of 0, 6DB and 12DB which is crucial when using a power hungry pair of 300 Ohm headphones. I found using the 6DB setting to be ample for very loud music listening. - The DAC is super simple to use and all the cable and connector and adaptor are all included as are so many different QED branded Cables... Individual Freq Response... As you may be aware, each item (speaker or amp) has its own unique Freq response...This unit dips down to 14 Hz and the Serial number on the bridge of the unit can be typed into the Net so you can examine this units Exact unique Freq Response and balance details and final quality report, In-case there are some Die hard Audiophiles out there that want a particular sound signature. (This realm can get all too silly very quickly....just let your ears take in the sound and your soul interpretate the music....dont be so analytical....it will eventually spoil Your ability to enjoy music.... same applies to Image quality......) As I am sure you can gauge, this listing is for a proper piece of Hi End Kit and you don’t need to be an Audiophile to own it or enjoy it but, you DO really need to know your stuff with connectivity, and how best to compliment this item with respective high end Equipment. Yes you can use it with you Premium PS5..... but obviously it deserves SO MUCH MORE....Think FLAC files as the bare minimum.... Review This unit was used with a FIIO E17 ALPEN DAC (included) and my 205 Hi End OPPO and simply put the sound was stunning. Open, crystal clear. Deep deep detail with instrumental separation on par with high end Hi Fi systems costing circa £10k easy, especially with my OPPO 205. The soundstage is very wide and very deep with a spacious feel. The Bass is fluid and textured. Treble is high and sparkling and the decay/reverb of instruments is beautiful and captivating. The sound is simply sublime and if you upgrade the Dac to something in the region of the £3400 Sennheiser HD800D DAC Amplfied, it becomes breathtaking..... simple as that. If you know, you know. I hope this listing captures what you are bidding for. As you can tell, I do not want to sell these, but the new owner will fall in Love instantly, as did I. I really cant see myself spending £2k on the new HD800-S and then another £2.5k for a decent DAC.... but these need to now go to a New Home where IF you have the music collection with the right setup....you will be that much closer to music Nirvana... The ear pads and headband cushion are in top condition and have been additionally cleaned before the sale.The headphone will be delivered with the 3m original cable and a carrying case.
