According to Schiit, Magni is now the only affordable, true no-excuses headphone amp and preamp. It’s literally the only headphone amp you’ll ever need. Sounds pretty great, right? Certainly sounded good to me when I purchased this, directly from Schiit, in August 2023 (thats less than 7 months ago, for those playing at home). Magni Plus (or Magni+) is an affordable all-discrete headphone amp thats manufactured in the good ol USA (in Corpus Christi, Texas). Heres where Ill be fully transparent: while this headphone amp is less than 7 months old, its not the latest and greatest (sad trombone). At the end of 2023, Schiit introduced their newest iteration of the Magni, which includes an integrated DAC option. Still, if you dont need a DAC, this is one heck of a headphone amp! Besides that new Magni comes in black with a silver volume knob which is... certainly a design choice. Im the only user of this device, in a smoke-free home. Also: this amp was hooked up to my secondary phono-based set up, not a PC. I only mention that because it speaks to how I used it to mostly listen to vinyl for an hour here and there. In total, theres easily less than 50 hours of use on this headphone amp. Im only selling it because I recently inherited an integrated amplifier which has a headphone output. This would go great with other Schiit components like the Schiit Modi or Loki Mini+.
