I did not test the AM or put a loop antenna on the unit to try. I tested the FM using the paperclip in the photos. Brought stations in fine that way! I tested the AC outlet on back which is working. The outlet is not polarized. The tuning light and arrows, the station numbers, and signal strength lights all work strong and clear. I dont know if there was any back light on this model but there is no working backlight, just the lighted station needle and arrow. There are some marks on the top of the unit from the feet of something that was sitting on it previously. I attempted to take clear photos that did not have my counter reflecting off of the front. The display is clear with no scratches on the front. The pebbly appearance on the display is only a reflection of my countertop! This is a high quality vintage unit. Being sold as described.
