The Sansui SE-9 is a truly unique graphic equalizer that lets you attain flat response in any room, regardless of speaker response, furnishings or room size. Heres how it works: the calibrated microphone (included) is placed in a favourite listening position. Next, the SE-9s Analyse button is pushed. Automatically, a built-in pink noise generator is activated and the sound is picked up by the microphone. Response is sent to the SE-9s computer, which automatically adjusts each control - one by one - until response is flat. The Spectrum Analyser lets you actually watch the SE-9 flatten response. This was an estate find and came from a smoke free home and functions perfectly, according to the seller. I am unfamiliar with how to properly test the unit, but it powers on as it should, and the computer adjusted sliders are in perfect working order. Preowned SE-9 - Sansuis top of the line EQ / Spectrum analyzer. This unit is working, however needs a good cleaning and possible light sand and pait the top cover. Inputs, sliders and analyser are working. Being sold as is since its a vintage piece. Only includes the EQ. Will have to obtain a mic seperately to use the room calibrate feature. PRODUCT DETAILS: Sansuis SE-9 was a unique product in its day. Its equipped with a 4-bit microcomputer, and the microcomputer with SANSUIs original program reads various conditions of the listening room.First, place the microphone in the listening position and press the compensating button. (Mic not included) The generator generates pink noise, and the left and right speakers alternately emit sound for 0.5 seconds each. This noise is picked up by the attached measuring microphone, and the sound field information is transmitted to the microcomputer in real time.The sound field information obtained through the microphone is converted into band level information by the 8-band spectrum analyzer and transmitted to the microcomputer. The microcomputer with high-speed processing capability judges the data and calculates the flat response.The fader drive mechanism to the fader drive mechanism of the graphic equalizer section to automatically move the 16-element faders. Information about the position of the faders is fed back to the microcomputer are corrected.Equipped with a memory function, flat characteristics can be stored and recalled with one touch.If you store new data, such as when the room condition changes or the listening position changes, the previous characteristics are automatically deleted.It is also possible to store and recall up to four patterns of characteristic curves created in the manual.
