SANSUI SR-212 VINTAGE SEMI-AUTO TURNTABLE IN SUPERB CONDITION * BEAUTIFUL CLASSIC TURNTABLE * EARLY 1970sFULLY SERVICED & RESTORED with NEW AUDIO LEADS, NEW AUDIO TECHNICA AT3600 CARTRIDGE + NEW BELT This is a lovely and well cared for example of a RARE classic 1970s Sansui SR-212 semi-automatic turntable. In my opinion the best looking turntable produced in the early 1970s. It features a user return function and also automatically returns the tonearm at the end of the record which saves the stylus from wearing out by sitting in the run out groove. Not only is it made of carefully chosen precision components but it has been designed with particular emphasis on ease of operation, reliability and tonal quality. It has been extremely well cared for. Even though it has been well cared for, it has probably sat unused for a long time, so has been given a complete restoration and service. Many hours of work go into restoring the turntables to their former glory and ensuring they operate at optimum performance. It comes to you in superb condition, fully serviced and restored and PlugnPlay ready for you to enjoy your vinyl music on arrival. The following work has been carried out on the turntable to prepare it for its new owner The motor was disassembled, old lubrication cleaned and new lubrication added to both the top and bottom bearings.The main centre bearing was fully stripped down, old lubrication cleaned out, a new ceramic bearing and new lubrication added.New foam inserts on the suspension springs to dampen vibrations.The motor spindle was cleaned and polished and set at the right position for correct speed.Thoroughly cleaned inside and out.The inside rim of the platter was cleaned of old belt residue and polished for proper belt grip.The outer rim of the platter was cleaned and polished to a bright finish.Dust cover polished to a high gloss.New drive belt added.New Audio Technica AT-3600L cartridge properly set up with the correct overhang and alignment.New quality RCA connection leadsSpeed checked as steady and accurate on both speeds using a strobe speed disc.I have restored many of these turntables. A new ceramic bearing was used in the main spindle bearing. These are harder and smoother than their steel equivalents. Both run freely and silently. New damping foam was added to the suspension springs. The motor spindle and inside of the platter rim have been cleaned and a new belt fitted. The unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. Finally, a brand new Audio Technica ST 3600L cartridge has been mounted, set up with the correct overhang and alignment. The tracking force has been set at 2g and the cartridge performs brilliantly. All settings have been set to provide the optimum sound reproduction. The turntable comes supplied with new quality audio leads and grounding cable for connection to your amplifier. Finally this comes with a printed instruction booklet. The work completed will ensure many years of enjoyable listening. This turntable is in superb condition cosmetically. The plinth is solid and the veneer is virtually new condition. The metal work has all been polished and is bright and shining. The lid has been polished to a high gloss. There are still a few light scratches but it looks impressive despite its age. These turntables were all about the sound and this one delivers. It has been sound tested through a Pioneer SX-434 amplifier and produces a rich listening experience. As with all vintage turntables you will need an amplifier with dedicated phono inputs, or you will need to run it through a phono stage pre-amp into the AUX connection of your amplifier. I am not advanced enough to get into electrical and dont want to damage the unit. It is clean inside and out and the faceplate is very nice as you can see from the pictures.
